Default Please Auxiliary Input for stock NON-Bose HU

I've searched the forum, but for the most part there's information for Bose HU. I need a recommedation on an auxiliary input for my stock non-Bose head unit (2004). I keep seeing Soundgate, AUX-NISS, PAC AAI-NIS2, PA11NIS, auxnissv3, and other variations and have no idea what works because people seem to be contradicting one another!

Anyways, what are your recommendations? I don't need anything fancy like ipod interface. I just need something simply I can plug my PC sound card into.

After researching some more, I think I need the Soundgate AUX-NISSv3. Looking online, I found a couple of places where I can buy this from:

Discount Car Stereo ($123.98):
http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=610

LogJam ($129.95):
http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundauxniss.html

Both of them list the same item (AUX NISSV3), but Discount Car Stereo states:
MUST HAVE a 12-pin Changer Connector on the back of the radio and a CD/CHG button [ "CD" or "CD6" button in (350Z)] on faceplate.
LogJam states:
Must have 8-pin connector at the rear of the factory radio - not compatible with 10-pin factory radio connector.
Which one do I get?

EDIT: A better question would be do 2004 non-Bose radios have a 12-pin or an 8-pin?

If you REALLY wanna find out how many pins your headunit has, you'd take part the center console. It's real easy.

Yeah, I'll let you know, but the 06 might be different too!

I suck at stuff like this. Knowing me, I'll start a fire trying to pull off the plastic panels! LOL

Hey Ed, will the PAC work? It seems like PAC makes two products. One is if you have Bose, the other is if you're 2005-2006. Unfortunately, I don't fall under either of those categories, which is why it's so hard to find info on this topic! (Bose and/or 2005/2006 have TONS of threads).

yeah I think mine is for the Bose system with a sat button so it will not work otherwise I'd make you a smoking deal on it.......as far as the dash removal I can still help with that if you need let me know.

Yeah, I thought so. Plus I need 2 of them since my cousin will also be doing this. Do you have a link where it shows how to remove the center console? If it's that easy I can just check it right now

Thanks guys. I found the link before you posted since I had it bookmarked! I just figured I'd ask for the link just in case I couldn't find it

Pulling all the panels and what-not was easy, and I didn't start any fire, but that SOB center gauge assembly wiring didn't want to come off! Luckily, no fires were started, and I got what I needed. The white socket has 12 pins.

(oh and FYI: my 2003 cubby color now matches perfectly on my 2004 dash...more to come later )

Now my question goes back to whether the two links below are actually selling the same item. Maybe LogJam has a typo and their 8-pin should say 12-pin? Both of them claim to be selling "AUX NISSv3"

Okay just as an update, I found out that 2003-2004 NON-Bose setups use the AUX-NISSV3.

I went ahead and called up LogJam since they were only one of two online vendors who sold the AUX-NISSV3. The other reseller, Discount Car Stereo, didn't have a website, and nor are they authorized resellers. Anyways, when I called up LogJam, the guy who answered stated that the AUX-NISSV3 needs an 8-pin connector on the back, which is what they stated on their website. I told him I had a NON-Bose radio out of a 2004 350Z, and I did NOT have the SAT button, but I had a 12-pin connector on the back. Long story short, he basically thought I was an idiot and wasn't understanding, so eventually I got off the phone with him. Discount Car Stereo stated 12-pin on their website, which is what I had, but they were not authorized resellers so I didn't want to blindly purchase from them. Plus they didn't have a phone number either.

So I called up Soundgate directly and asked them how many pins they needed. The guy there kept saying "yes, the AUX-NISSV3 will work in your case. That is what you need to buy." I thought, yeah, great, but your AUTHORIZED reseller contradicts what I see on the back of my stock radio! He put me on hold and I guess went back and verified that the connector was indeed a 12-pin, which LogJam had incorrectly stated as 8-pin on their website! I then got off the phone with them and when I called LogJam back a little later on, he told me he just received a call from Soundgate to verify that the unit requires a 12-pin connection. The guy from LogJam appologized and said it is now corrected on the website.

Summary:
You can use the AUX-NISSV3 (AUXNISSV3 for keyword searches) if you have the following:
- 2003-2004 NON-Bose head units
- WITHOUT SAT button on face
- 12-pin connector

Hopefully this should help people who are searching for an auxiliary input!
