Default Sure.

It is possible. I did it in my '03 Z 6-spd. There is a guy on this forum, KPierson, who is very knowledgeable about this topic. You can get the alarm to work well in conjunction with the a factory Neural Safety Switch that you can tap into at the ECU. A ground output is given when the car is in neutral...so when this wire is connected to the remote start activation wire to the alarm brain, it allows the car to remote start safely. When it is in gear, it is open from ground, thus preventing the car from remote starting. Just connect the remote start activation/operation wire to the correct wire for the NSS on the ECU, or tell your installer to do so. You can find the right pin number for the wire on this site. It works perfectly for me, and I am very thankful for finding this info on this site. Good luck.

P.S.-I did forget to mention that most pro installers might refuse to do this, due to liability reasons. Maybe they could leave that part for you to finish and wire up.

Yes ... it's possible. Get a COMPUSTAR 2w900FM-AS. With 'Reservation Mode'.

Hit Chris with an email at [threealarmdeals@yahoo.com]. Tell him Sam referred you. It's a great unit I have one.

As long as you tap the OEM PNP switch you will be fine with any alarm that has a neutral safety switch input (or even a (-) hood pin input). The PNP switch is open when the car is in any gear, and is held at ground when the car is in N. This can be used to only allow the remote start to work when the car is in N. Do NOT reference the parking brake, that most likely won't work if your car is left in 1st or R, as the parking brake is not strong enough to hold the car.

The alternative is to get an alarm specifically made for manual trannys. They require a bunch of steps to make sure the car was left in N, and I would personally hate that. DEI (makers of Viper) actually sells an add on module that will allow almost any alarm to work with a manual tranny, but it's not sold in the USA. If you know a Canadian dealer you can get one for $30-40. It's a shame that they won't sell them to Americans, damn lawyers!

OK I can give you both the pros and cons of remote start on the 6MT just because I've lived em LOL.

PRO: I love the Auto-start on my 6MT. Here in Vegas when its 110+ degrees outside its nice to hop into a nice and cool car. Just look out the window start it up 5 minutes before I leave, and walk out to cool comfort. Same thing with the heater.

CON: If anyone ever has access to your keys and just so happens to hit that button disaster can happen. Here are the pictures of my SS Z after a valet hit the remote start button after I told him not to park it in gear. Jumped forward about 10 feet and hit a Honda Accord. He got to dirve home, mine left on a rollback

I love mine and it has its benefits, but make sure you are well aware of the consequences when things dont go as planned.

As to having to push the clutch in. That is more of a safety feature put there to make sure the car doesnt jump forward when you start it if you forget to have the clutch pushed in. Most of the remote starts come with clutch bypasses to make the ECU think that it is pushed in.

I talked to a guy that said to set the autostart to only work when the turbo timer feature is set before the car turns off. So that means the car would have to be idling in neutral with the turbo timer before autostart would be enableded to work the next time the MT car was started. Make sense?

I have the Compustar 2WSS-AS w/ the neutral safety feature & love it. You won't ever have to worry about your car jumping if someone accidentally pushes the button cause it will not work if it's in any gear. Plus it won't work if your hood is open for those situations where someone maybe working on your car such as a mechanic which would definitely be ugly if someone accidentally pressed the button.

As I stated above, if you use the OEM neutral safety wire then you will never have to worry about any remote start starting while the car is in gear, because it won't be able to crank.

The clutch has an electrical interlock on it, it can be bypassed, but make sure it is ONLY bypassed during the remote start sequence, and not all the time.

You don't have to have the clutch in the start the car, you just have to activate the clutch engage switch or wire. You could ground that wire out and be able to star the car without the clutch. Then you'd be in the same boat as the remote start, what if you start the car while it is in gear! Pushing the clutch in makes sure the tranny is disengaged so it doesn't start rolling.

I had one in my 5-speed F-150 and it would only remote start if you set it to do so when the car was turned off. You would put it in neutral and push the remote, turn the igntion to off and the car would stay running, get out and clsoe the door, hit the remote button and the car would turn off. It would take some good moves to leave it in gear with this type of setup. You'd either have to crawl in the window and put it in gear or have the car rolling while you got out and turned it off.
