Default Will installing an aftermarket alarm affect my extended warranty??

I got extended warranty on my 05 350z, but I feel now its time to get an alarm. I was curious if this will affect or void part of my warranty that I have on my car? I'm worried about this because the dealer says that the powered windows tend to stop working after a while (one reason i got the extended warranty)...please reply.

I also have the extended warranty for my 04 roadster... I had an alarm system put in. The dealer told me it voided the warranty ONLY on the alarm or if they have proof that your alarm system caused something to fail... You shouldn't have a problem...

So Nissan uses poorly designed window motors/regulators and then uses that as a selling point for an extended warranty? That's great....

An alarm can void parts of your warranty. Your best bet would be to call the company that the extended warranty policy is through and talk to them. Most extended warranties are NOT like OEM warranties. Extended warranties can void anything they choose based on the wording of the contract. There may in fact be something in the contract stating that the addition of any aftermarket electronics will void all electronic warranties.

The last extended warranty I purchased was very focused on only fixing things that remained in OEM condition, were taken care of, and showed no signs of abuse.

By law the dealer will have to provide you a comparable alarm system free of charge if they say it voids warranty. I think it is the Moss-Mangusen act or something..

The only part of your extended warranty it would void is for your alarm if its taking the place of it in its operation of the door locks, lights and horn whenever someone messes with your car. As far as anything else they would have to prove that the alarm caused something to mess up per the Magnusen-Moss warranty act.

I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure that extended warranties have their own contracts, and can be written any way they want to write them, therefore not covered by the Magnusen-Moss warranty act. The Magnusen-Moss act (I'm assuming) only covers original warranties offered by the OEM.

Like I said, I had an extended warranty back when I had my Mini Cooper and there were so many clauses in that warranty that it was almost worthless.
