I have a Kicker solobaric 10" L5 that I'll be creating a sealed enclosure for...Kicker rec'd between 0.66 to 1.0 ft^3 of volume for the sealed enclosure.
what's the optimum volume I should aim for? (I'm making my own box, and won't have a problem getting that volume...is the max volume always better?)
thanks,
Peter

the L7 drives i honstly feel is best with the largest sealed volumes...
IMO, i usualy try to go for the biggest enclosure i can do under the recommendations, the gain in efficiency and really low bass is why...

If you like techno-punchy bass ... go smaller sealed.
If you like rap, country, or bass "test" music ... go for the bigger one.
Look at it this way .. you can make the box 1.0cf and if it isn't punchy enough, you can add wood blocks until you get it how you like it. It's much easier to subtract volume than to add it

So sorry. Kicker doesn't publish their Qts specifications for their speakers for some unknown reason. The rest of the Thiel-Small parameters are there but I couldn't find the Qts and without it you can only guess. Each speaker will sound different - vasty so - in a different size volume. Austrailian acoustical scientist Thiel and Small figured out what driver parameters were needed to produce a certain response curve. Depending on what/how you like your music you size the box to match. After doing it once right you know what you like - I like a Qtc about 1.0 or a bit higher.
Knowing that I ran a series of speakers - most manufactures publish the required specifications and then took a listen to that narrower band of speakers.
