Default Navigation

A few days ago my Navigation started acting funny. Before when the Headlight switch was off the nav screen was Bright. When I would turn on the lights the screen would automatically turn dark. All of a sudden this feature is no longer working. I have to manually push the D/N button in order to change the screen. I know this is probably something really stupid. I just can't seem to figure this out right now. Anyone run across this before? I know it is a simple push of the button just can't figure it out right now. Maybe tooooooo many Voldka cranberries.

humm? thats an odd one. do you have the service manual. i would follow the wiring back and see if there is any fuses or day night wire coming from the nav control box. ill try and look through my service manual tonight for you.

I'm thinking that there is a setting that adjusts the brightness automatically in the menu. Might check it out, I think it is next to the one where you can choose the light or dark map option.

Does the OEM NAVI work with the stereo system? Meaning when driving the stereo will mute when the NAVI is giving verbal driving directions? Just curious.

Yes the OEM stereo will mute when the Nav is giving verbal instructions. I yanked out the BLOSE system the first week I bought my car and installed an Alpine system with JL amps and speakers. I wired up a small speaker and my aftermarket stereo will still mute and the nav will give instructions through my external speaker. Anyway I still haven't figured out why the Nav will not change to night mode when the headlights are turned on. I will post when I find the answer if nobody helps me out before then.

You may have already figured this out, but if your driving at night and dim the UNDIM the lights, when you turn the lights off it will stay bright & visa versa.

Turn the lights on and dim them.

What happens when you turn the lights off?

I was confused about this the first time it happened to me.

Good Luck

Thanks for everyones replies. I found my problem. A wire was shorted on my aftermarket stereo system causing a fuse to blow. I repaired the wire replace the fuse and all is well.
