just gone done this newest 05 G coupe, came all the way up from socal
The goals were simple:
1. sound quality
2. clean, dont take up too much trunk space while maintaining the spare tire
lets get started:
the signal starts off with the Pioneer Avic-Z1 nav unit, installed via the double din finisher, note the two antennas on the dash, one for the Nav, the other for XM radio

the DLS remote bass control is shaved and then mounted into the ash tray, so the owner can flip it down and adjust the bass level:

Front stage features a pair of DLS ultimate UR36 3 way components. The midrange and tweeter as usual, is flushed into the kick panels:

while the midbass sits in a semi-sealed and dampened cup inside the stock location, the door is dampened as well:

back in the trunk, here is the normal view. a reupholstered 4080 box sits on the passenger side, housing an image dynamics 10" subwoofer, while on the driver side, a matching side enclosure with a vinyl cover plate with raised infiniti logo

lets see whats behind the cover, its a DLS ultimate A5 3 channel amp, sending about 100 watts to each front side, and about 500 watts at 2ohms to the sub. the amp sits in a suede lined well, behind clear plexi. Note the mesh vent for the amp up top:

the amp is chosen for its short lengths (to fit within the side of the trunk and of course, superior quality.
here is a behind the scenens shot as usual to show the wiring

overall, the goals IMO are achieved, it sounds excellent and does not take up a lot of usable space

always impressed...I've gone through just about all of your install posts to get as many ideas as possible - too bad I don't have the time or $$ to make mine look as good.

thanks guys, this one isnt all that much in labor
of course, with most of my installs, i usually have an idea in mind, and then as i start installing, i add more and more details and things, so in the end, the owners commment is always, wow this is more than i thought i paid for
i think this car is around 700 for labor and that includes;
installation of everyhting you see, all materials, dampening, all wiring costs
kicks, door pods etc etc

16psibrick,
Looks great, couple ?'s
- I thought it was always best to install tweeters at ear level for better stage/sound. Is this not the case?
- Is their a cooling fan in the amp enclosure? Seems kind of tight if not. As you are the professional, I am sure you have done this a hundred times, just curious.
Thanks in advance

the tweet should be close tot he midrange, and its hard to get a true midrange up at ear level
in the car, most locations tahts at ear level are far to close to one side than the other, so moutning it there will not give you a good image
but no, it does NOT mean if the tweets are down in the kicks, it will sound like they are down there
once you have heard a set of kicks well isntalled you will know what i mean.a lot of serious IASCA comepetitors do A pillar tweets as a SECONDARY tweeter to raise the staging, their main tweeter is still usually down low. also, some, with long dashs, do midrange and tweet on the dash, but that involves a lot of work to do right, ikciks by far is the easiest way to get a nice solid center image and high sound stage...
2. firstly, the A series of DLS amps almost never over heat, they are just beats...secondly, there is a mesh vent on the top of the amp rack for heat to escape
since heat travels upward...b
