new HU Install...and now CHECK ENGINE LIGHT??
Hi, well i finally picked up my z from the dealer last night and i had nothing to do but start the install on my 6800dvd. I had everything ready, dash kit was from Metra.
overall the install went real well, had a bit of trouble removing the center dash since on the 06's the entire dash comes off as one piece. wired everything up, radio sounds good.
this morning i start the car and drive off, a few minutes later i realize the CHECK ENGINE light is on??? what gives??
id really like to hear from you guys, especially if this has happened to you, or any installers who might have an idea of what i did wrong, maybe a bad choice of ground point??
thanks for the help

Same thing happened to me when I installed my system. I reset the ECU by using the following procedure, Sounds strange but it works:
350Z ECU Resetting Procedures
Please read all instructions and be familiar with them before any attempts.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.
ECU Resetting Procedures
Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.
Operations Procedures
1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.
If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.

Yea, i did power everything on without the AC unit plugged in.
Well i waited 2 days like you guys said, and it just went away on its own.
Thanks for the ECU reset procedure.

I simply disconnected the neg battery terminal for a few days while i was doing minor LED interior work and when I connected days later and drove the car I was greeted by the SES light. went to autozone for a free OBD reading resulting in P1065 ECM back up power supply fault. I did the above process and i'm good to go. thanks
