local audio dealer scandal
Hey guys, I just got my new Z this past weekend, and I want to transfer my system into it, but I need some opinions on the set up. I have 2 jl 10 w6v2 and a jl 1000/1 amp. Do you guys recommend the zenclosure under strut box? I was wondering if it would be to small for subs. I don't want to ruin them lol Also what is a good head unit that you recommend.
I took my car to a couple of audio places around town, and Im just kinda disappointed with the whole thing. They all keep telling me that if I change my head unit id have to change all of the bose speakers out as well... is this true, or are they just trying to make a quick dollar off a girl that isn's as knowledgeable?? Please lend a girl a helping hand guys lol Also, if there are any local installers in fort myers florida.. hit me up, maybe we could work out a price. Thanks so much guys ive learned so much from reading your posts.

i think those bose speakers have a lower impedance than regular speakers, maybe 2ohms? so yeah, an aftermarket headunit will not work with those speakers. someone correct me if i'm wrong.
well, to some extent it is true, you CAN just plug in an aftermarket headunit, and make it interface with the bose amp and then to the bose speakers, but will it sound good? prolly not, and definetly wont come anywhere close to keeping up with a 1000/1 powering 10w6s.
but if you were to add an amp to power the front speakres to keep up wtih the sub, then yes, you must use new speakers instead of the stock bose.
if you are going to go zen enclosures and 10w6, amke sure to get hte box with the integrated amp rack on top so you get enough air space

dont forget on the bose systems, its the bose amp that sees what ever the impedance of the speakers are, so the headunit just needs to feed a siganl to the bose amp, so the speaker impedance doesnt matter

Keep in mind the amount of power you have and 2x10w6s your stock system will not keep up with the bass you will have in your car. Do yourself a favor and get an amp and speakers. Even if you get something cheaper it will still be better then stock.
Hit me up if you need something reasonable I have some closeouts.

ill keep you posted
I've got a friend back home in Fort Myers that can do installs. He doesn't own a business he just does it on the side. I'm sure he'd do it cheaper than a shop. LMK if you're interested.
