Default Tweeter placement?

So I'm working on putting in my system right now... putting components in the doors; was just going to put them in the factory locations, then got to thinking about all that sound stage stuff and equal distance to ears, etc...

Looking at the factory panels, it would be quite easy to surface mount the tweeters in their supplied swivel mounts right on the kick panels. Would this make that much of a difference as far as sound quality as opposed to putting them in the stock locations?

Wiring would be more complicated, so that's one downside, but I'd have to do some modification to fit them in the sail panels as well...

People states it is better to keep the tweets as close to the mids a possible.

My tweeters are in the kicks angled up.
I believe they sound decent.

Just ordered a pair of door pods.
Which should make it even better.

Yeah, I was thinking something like that. Was it hard to run the wires out to or in from the doors?

running the cable out to the door was almost the hardest part of the installation. You have to drill a hole in the harness for the cable to pass thru. I followed the instructions on this site. Take your time, you'll get it done.

Right after the sentence in Acoustics 101 about equal distance from your ears is the one about early reflections.

Got my front components done today. Ended up mounting my tweeters in the same location "crunchtime" did, as pictured above. They osund MUCH better there as opposed to the stock locations; the sound is much warmer and soundstage is much better with them in the kicks.
