Default How do I get satellite radio going?

I've got an aftermarket Pioneer deck, something similar to P6800MP. It does support satellite radio. Do I need any more hardware? And how do I wire everything?

Yes you need a separate component. Pioneer makes two for XM, one with Nav Traffic ans one without. They make one for sirius. They can be found here:

Your Sat antenna will get wired directly to the Sat unit. You must also give it power and a ground. There is one cable that attaches to the head unit. Very easy to do. I installed my GEX-P10XMT under the passenger seat.

Go for the XM, Howard hasn't been funny since Jackie left. (Yes I'm a raving Opie and Anthony fan... RAAAAMOONE....)

Bassically for this to work you need to have the antenna put on your car...
I have ot on my Spec-I have XM its a much better service I might add..
You scan buy one pretty much anywhere and have it put on
Once you are done with that you activate it with NOTHING above your car, so if can get feed from the satellite and off you go!

Yea its pretty simple. I have sirius and can't be without it. Its great. I like sirius better. I have seen stations on XM with cormericals and sirius they seem to more open on what they say.

Best thing to do is call Crutchfield. Even if you don't buy from them, they can explain it in the detail you need.

On a side note, Datona Jess makes a good point about having NOTHING above your car when you activate it.

I've got a system similar to what you're asking for. I disconnected my battery to do some work on my car. When I reconnected the battery, the unit tried to reactivate. Some trees by my driveway actually prevented the re-activation, at least partially.

Some of the channel information didn't get passed to the unit and I couldn't listen to them. I called customer service and Sirius couldn't figure it out either. I eventually disconnected/reconnected the battery again in a large parking lot. Everything came back normally.

As far as the Sirius/XM choice. Find someone who has them and ask them if you can listen for a while and then make your choice.

I listened to both for a while and choose Sirius (even before Stern). I love it. I haven't listened to terrestrial radio FM) since i had it installed.

Yea same here I have listened to both and I am forever on sirius. On sirius you can resend the activation online if you have a issue with activation. You just login/register and there is a option to resend it.

You will never listen to regular radio again.
Screw Jackie. He was OK, but Artie is the best thing to happen to Howard since he started.

Seriously, call them (Crutchfield). You can tell them what you have, they can tell you what you need. And if you buy from them, they'll send great setp-by-step instructions.

ot now

Howard fan since the 80's

Thank god they replaced him....he was funny, but Artie has SO much more personality, and the show in sirius is the funniest it's ever been

I have not put on regular radio (except AM traffic) since I subscribed. More content than I know what to do with

Sirius simply rocks...3 subscriptions strong, since 2003 - simply awesome. If you want an easy solution, visit your local shop, tell them you want satellite, swipe the credit card, and be done.

If you want to do it yourself, call Crutchfield, they will send everything you need, follow the directions, done
