Default Ipod to Stock 2006 Enthusiast Radio Connection

I have a stock radio in a 2006 enthusiast and have been researching my options to get my I pod to connect to the radio. I found a connector on Ebay that says it would work with an xm/satellite ready radio, but I don't know if mine is. I saw a stock radio on ebay and on the back it looks like there are connections for the adapter? I don't really want to use an fm modulator. Thanks for your help.

I second that. I've never had good experience with the fm modulators. They work, but they sound like crap.

The best thing to do is buy an inexpensive hu that supports the ipod ready. By the adapted and hook it for a direct connection.

BTW: Show us a link to that adapter you found on ebay. That way we can take a look and know what you are talking about.

Buying a new HU and the iPod adapter is the best option for sound quality... esp. because it does all the processing (takes over for the iPod) so you're gonna get the best sound possible.

Hi everyone thanks for the help. Here is the link to what I was talking about http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...spagenameZWD1V
My buddy just got one for his corolla and he loves it. I agree with everyone though that the best option would be to just get a HU that has IPOD capability preferably with and MP3 player too, does anyone have any suggestions for a mp3 HU with Ipod connection? Thanks again.

Default ipod ready HU

i posted this in a different forum.... but if you get another HU that can control the IPOD, would you lose your steering wheel audio controls on the 2006 models? is there anyway to preserve those with an aftermaket HU?

thanks

Default IPOD to Head unit

You car do some minor electrical work and rewire your bose head unit. You'll need a soldering iron and a few connectors. A visit to Radio shack and find the right thread with the instructions. It took me about $25 and an afternoon and now I can hook up any IPOD, ZEN, ZUNE, whatever to my stock bose system. I'd say anybody with a little bit of experience can do it pretty easy.

another option is a wired fm modulator which essentially hooks your ipod directly to the fm antenna in the HU. It has a pass thru for the car's FM antenna. It won't give you the same dynamic range as an aux in, for example, but is better than a wireless FM modulator and a much cheaper alternative than getting a new HU.

edit: or something like this will also give you full ipod control.

I have it in mine, works great, no FM crap. I'm not sure if it works with the satellite radio or not.

There certainly is. If your HU accepts wired remote input, you can buy an input adapter for that (specific to HU brand). If not, but does come with a wireless remote, you can get a wireless adapter. Manufacturer for both types is PAC Audio http://www.pac-audio.com/default.asp .

Yes it can, I just installed the USA-SPEC mentioned above in my non-Bose stock HU. Works great, easy installation. Even controls your iPod through the stock HU.

Thats awesome. I researched this before and everyone else said it couldnt be done and all the places selling this stuff stated for Bose HU only or with the SAT button.

What year?

I have an '05 Enthusiast, although it should work for '03-'07. I ordered mine from http://www.icarkits.com/home.php. I know there are places you can get the unit for a lower price, but I felt more comfortable with the iCarKits site. Good luck!
