Yo whats up guys, i just bought the blue 8500 x50. and it didnt do anything. i passed maybe like, 12 cop cars and it wouldnt detect anything. i left it on the auto settings, and it was placed correctly in my Z.

SO, i just exchanged it about 2 hours ago. and its reading somethings on the street. but before i start using it, is there any tips or settings i should have it on?

when im driving through my area and streets and whatnot, should i put it on the city settings?

and i just figured out how to get into the program settings, is there a way i can make the sensor more powerful or somethin?

and one more question, the POP setting is off. how do i turn it on???

i would call escort myself but they close to early. so if any of you guys know somethin about this radar, please help me out. i got a ticket a few nights ago and i need somethin i can trust. thanks

 

Mine works just fine. Save my butt many times. Did you by chance read your manual? You can download it from Escort if you dont have one. It explains everything you've just asked.

 

To turn pop on go through the settings and when you get to the pop off option hit mute and it will turn it on. If you put it on city it will turn off x band which is most likely a motion sensor on a door. This is what will make it go off in towns most often. I have an x 50 and i love it... i have only had problems when it is cold outside.... it always goes into self calibrate. But other than that i pick them up from a long way away.

 

I've detected quite a few cops from a pretty far distance. I've seen a few cops and got nothing but I just assumed they weren't running radar. Other than that its worked fine.

 

yeah, i have the manual and im reading it.

and i am in chicago so it does get pretty cold outside (if that defects the detecting at all). but should i just always have it on Auto settings? and should i turn POP on?

and i know u guys tell me to use the manulal and all, but its alot easier and understandable when u have someone just tell u with experience. cuz like i said, its my first one so i dont know many of these meanings of a radar. thanks

 

Cops rarely drive with the radar on. It's a radar detector and not a cop detector. Use city for city, and highway for highway.

 

Do you know what the cops in your town use? For example, Dallas cops use mainly Ka. If that is the case you can set to ignore K while in city. The X50 picks up laser too, but chances are if it goes off and the cops are hitting you you're toast. I would suggest a Blinder M20 or some sort of laser jammer with the X50.

but if thats so, thats no help then...cuz cops dont really need a radar to see if ur going fast...

 

Depends on how fast your going... They can't exactly give you a speeding ticket if they don't have a MPH on the radar that proves it.

I mean, even a radar detector doesn't save anyone from driving like an idiot.
