go with the escort 8500. i currently just got mine 2 days ago and love it. great detection ahead of time. even though its not wireless you can still hardwire it to make it seem wireless.

8500 X50 is awesome. I have mine hardwired to the power rearview mirror. From my understanding there's not a huge difference between the X50 and the Solo besides mainly the cordless feature.

As batteries weaken so does the radars ability to pick up radar at distance.

^ good point. If you get the X50 I do suggest a hardwire if you have one of the earlier Zs. Having the AC plug in the back and stretching the cord across the cabin is really retarded. Nissan screwed the pooch when they designed the location of the plug.

I have a 06 model, so my plugin is below the dash on the passenger side, I like the option of hardwiring, no cord hanging down. I really like the Solo because of no cord, very easy to move from car to car.

You also might want to consider holding off buying either one for a month or so. The new escort is supposed to be released in March. It's a bit pricey but seems pretty nice. Especially if it reduces false alarms as much as they claim it does.

good point, though I can get a good price on the 8500 x50, less than $200. Also, how hard is it to hardwire to the mirror?
