Hmm actually that's one thing I was thinking about... with the whole registered key thing, will those remote start functions work on an aftermarket system? Was thinking of doing an aftermarket alarm just for a paging system since I leave my car out a lot.

They make bypasses for the trasponder system. I've used a ton of bypasses that require you to mount a key under the dash but now they have keyless versions.

The bypasses ONLY bypass when remote starting, so the transponder system is still there to protect the car.

in speaking with my mechanic today, he said most chipped key cars are still easy to steal for the pro thief.

Yeah, the transponder system in the Z is pretty easy to bypass to someone who knows what they are doing.

Of course, if a 'pro thief' wants your car they will take you car, no matter what you do.

Like said, with a pro thief nothing is going to save your car. They'll disconnect the GPS way before anyone finds the car. I'm sure they're using GPS jammers by now anyway to prevent the recievers from getting the signal they need to triangulate.

Wow, I've been wanting to use the word 'triangulate' in a sentence for years!

lojack won't stop someone who knows what they are doing, that's the point.

they must be really carried away if they have jammers, they will have trouble and ruin the ody anyway cuz car is too low to roll up a tow truck, theyd only be able to drive off with it. pretty much get away with it if they dont get a gun in their face first.
