Yeah mercedez is crap, 2 of my close friends have a benz with nav. The lay out is horrible and for some reason they sell their cars with out dated cd's.

i think it's fine. only thing is if you're using the bird's eye view, scrolling around the map is unnecessarily difficult.
also i absolutely hate that it's not touchscreen.
i do like the 3-d feature
it's cool, overall.

I opted for the paper version. It's quite large and covers the steering wheel while you're driving, but it folds up nicely when you're done.
I wish I had checked the Nav box before I bought my Z.

I had a track model with the navi, which is pretty rare. The navi is very useful, especially when there's traffic and I'm looking for a detour. I also used it to find nearest atms and gas stations. I can also calculate how far my destinations are, allowing me to manage my time efficiently. However, it does have its drawbacks. First of all, you can't use it while driving. And also annoying was that the map scrolling really sucked, as the processor is not fast enough to keep up with the scrolling rates. So it wasn't smooth and would pause. Also, the little finger joystick is not easy to work with. Oh and let's not forget the little gliches every now and then. The navi would sometimes readjust the route and make you drive much farther than you had to. For instance, for all the Socal people who know the roads, I was once headed down to Long Beach on the 710S. All of a sudden the navi was telling me to go on 91W to the 110S to the 405S and back onto 710S, which totally doesn't make sense. In comparison to my GF's Honda system of the same year, the Honda navi is far much superior. It's touch-screen, you can use it while driving, it's quick from one function to another (Climate, Radio, etc), and it scrolls quickly and smoothly.
Even though the Nissan navi can be crap sometimes, it's still nice to have it permanently installed, and it'll work when you really depend on it. Of course you shouldn't focus on any navi system too much while you're driving. You should focus on your driving. Furthermore, the navi will keep your car value up higher than Zs w/o it.
Aftermarket navi systems are nice since they're portable and affordable. However, they get jacked, and they look ugly on the dash. So there's my little 2 cents to clear things up for you. Hope that helps.

I really enjoy using my navigation in my 05, although its in the shop now because the door wont stay open and the screen won't go on, but regardless when it was working I thought it was great. I have about 25 locations programmed into the address book, which makes it easier if I'm coming from another location to get to the destination in my address book. Voice guidance makes it easier so I dont always have to look at the screen. The only thing I wish is my set up was like the 07 and the door was eliminated or I can set the navigation to always keep the door open, because the opening and closing of the door everytime you start and turn off the car can be really annoying.

I love the '06 navi. The Bird View 3D feature is especially great. And accuracy is spot-on, even of elevation. I have posted pictures before next to road signs here in the Rockies listing elevation at that particular spot and the navi's display was always within a few feet of it.

o well, now this thread is back alive now. haha
I have some gripes about the navi, coming from a touch screen, i think the joystick makes inputting a bit slower. And one time it took me near the fricken Twin Peaks in SF, up a fricken 45 degree hill when I first got my car a few weeks ago (my first manual car), and back down again when i could've went by taking another exit and avoiding all that. That was quite an experience of clutch burning. ><
Otherwise i think it's alright.
