Pioneer AVIC-Z2
I'm thinking about adding a navigation system to my 2007 roadster. Whether or not the AVIC-Z2 is out yet doesn't really matter since I'm not looking at doing this until this summer anyways. My question is if I install the AVIC will I still be able to use the factory steering wheel controls for volume, scan, mode, blah blah blah? Also is it possible to listen to the radio or mp3s while the navigation is going or do you have to choose one or the other? Is it possible to play a DVD on the system while the car is moving, for the passenger of course?

1. yes, you need pac SWI-PS for the steering wheel control
2. yes, you can set the nav to cut in when it needs to talk, attentuate it, or not touch the sound at all and simply speak at the same time as what ever oyu are playing.
3. yes, unless they changed it from the late model Z1s, it requires s imple one wire change up in the adapter plug.

16psibrick,
Do you know of any reputable car a/v installers in the DC area? I haven't been able to see much just by googling and since you seem to be pretty knowledgable within the industry I was wondering if you've met anyone at any of the shows?
Dan

The only benefit of buying it from retail stores is just the warranty, otherwise I would've just grabbed it from ebay for dirt cheap.

i get it for less then 1500 with employee discount. There are no MAJOR differences from the z1 and z2. They are making more units of the Z2 so that one is of the reasons why it is 200 dollars cheaper. In a couple of months the price will go back up.

oh yeh i forgot something... the color of the LED's on the unit itself does not have a feature to change color... it was a stupid idea for pioneer not to put that in as a change for the z2 because a lot of people like the "stock" look rather than an aftermarket LED light that is not changable and noticable.
