Default Radar Q?

anybody know if X and K bands are still used by cops? my detector is getting pretty annoying, X and K band going off like crazy when im on city streets specially on shopping centers.. i want to turn the two bands off, just wondering if it is a wise thing to do. Most speed traps a have encountered uses Ka band or Laser, i'm from Nor Cal if that should matter.

Operating Bands
* X-band 10.525 GHz ± 25 MHz
* K-band 24.150 GHz ± 100 MHz
* Ka-band 34.700 GHz ± 1300 MHz
* Laser 904nm, 33 MHz Bandwidth

Had never seen a X band or really a K band much. Just KA, and K a time or 2.

Last week was hauling @$$ and passed a guy at about 110 and I am out in the ****ing boonies and X goes off and strength starts to get more and more as I am slowing down to a about 60 and I see a nice blue come around the corner.

X is usually from the automatic doors. I think most police around here use Ka.

depends what theyfeel likein my area, you can usuallytell bythe signal strength, normally, a gun shows up initially as 2-3 bars on my passport 8500, reguardless of the band, theautomatic doors and road signs usually start atlike 1 bar and gradually increase
