Default Power port useage

Guys,

The manual says that you aren't supposed to use the power port for accessories while either the A/C or headlights are on. Has anyone gone ahead and used it anyway or had any problems.

I want to run my GPS off it while on my 2200 mile trip and I'm sure there will be times when either or both AC & HID's will be on at some time.

^^ I remember reading that as well, and thinking

A portable GPS draws 10W maximum and probably less. This adds an insignificant load on the alternator. I've run a portable GPS or phone charger with air, lights, and wipers, and rear defroster going.

My Garmin showed up and it draws a max of 15w and 13.8 volts.

I agree this really shouldn't have any affect to the electrical system. Just have to wonder why they state that though.

My guess is that it keeps the attorneys happy. Product liability is why we pay extra for "normal" operation of devices.
