Default Stock Navi LCD wiring question.

I am going to be using the stock navi LCD screen as a second monitor with my Avic Z2, I just wanted to confirm the wiring so I can output the aux video to the stock navi LCD.

I got these 2 diagrams from searching this section. (Both are for wiring an X-Box 360 into the stock navi...

I just want to confirm that these wires will work.

Also, does anyone know a quick way to disable the stock navi? Just unplug the DVD unit?

(I've enclosed the 2 wiring diagrams)

Is that something you plug in? Couldn't I just get a stock male connector and splice in just the wires I need? I don't plan on using the stock navi anymore. I just want to output to the LCD.

Default my car....

hi,

on my car i spliced behind the drivers seat....reason being i wanted to keep my factory nav working along with adding the TVANDNAV2GO unit to be able switch between factory nav and in my case and Xbox install.

http://www.tvandnav2go.com/

now, those pictures you have are correct.....

you need to find the RBG and sync wire....now those are not colors of wires but colors of picture for the video screen!

the actual colors of the wires are:

R - Black colored wire
G - White colored wire
B - Red Colored wire
Sync - Pink colored wire

Now, im sure you can splice directly into that with out the tvandnav2go unit AS LONG AS ---- the Avic Z2 has that same wiring signal output... in that i mean, it must also have RGB and sync output. i belive thats called NTSC or something like that.....i dont know?

my350z community? DO YOU CONCOUR??

NOW honestly i would just buy the tvandnav2go unit so you can have both factory nav and your AVIC Z2 as well.... its not a costly unit...

anyhoo....i say that only cause it sounds like you dont care for your factory nav to work anymore?

Also, you can do this from the center console area if you dont want to do it behind the drivers seat.

Hey JasonZ-YA,

Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it!

I think I am going to just get one of the TVandNAv2go modules so I can return the car to stock if I ever want to.

Contacted TVandNAv2go and they want $250 for the module.

I could buy 2 brand new Fahrenheit 7" LCD's for that much.

From all the reading I've done I've learned that the stock navi LCD is a Component RGB+ with a separate Sync cable.

Does anyone know of another signal converter for this? Or another way to wire the navi? $250 is rather steep when I can just buy a new LCD for that much.

*Edit*

It seems every other model I found is $350+... oh well...

price - $250 is correct i believe for their plug and play version, you can mention the site and the best price they will give is $225.

I payed $175 for a non plug and play, meaning i had to cut and splice wires! see my picture above!

1. This unit your installing - AVIC Z2 - it only has composite yellow for video output on "RCA connector 2" so its called in the manual.

i looked up the installation manual online!!
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...70352,00.html#

2. SO IN ORDER FOR YOU TO: convert to RGB+sync that the factory nav sceen uses you need the tvandnav2go unit. that unit pretty much does the conversion for you along with having a switch in order to toggle back and forth from AVIC to factory navigation feed!

3. Keep in mind the tvandnav2go unit allows for two video sources.... you can have your avicz2 output to your factory screen and you can hook up a back up camera or another video source, say an xbox install or something?!

and ya, if you bought another screen and replaced your factory nav screen then ya you should be able to hook it up, since the aftermarket screens (such as Farenheit) have yellow rca hook ups on them,

but that means disabling your factory nav...... so you can do either or....

I would look into that though, because there are post about others installing screens (Farenheit screen) in the cubby on NON-nav 350z consoles! but i dont know about replacing the factory screen with an aftermarket screen.

you just may need to cut/trim plastic to make it fit...

ive seen people drill little holes on the side to mount aftermarket screens and also use a ton of zip ties as well...

Why can't you just splice into the factory nav wires and run something that way?
