Question New Speaker For OEM Navi???????

What kind of speaker do you get for your Nissan Nav voice to output to??? (After you have installed new HU and Speakers).

I have to be able to hear Navi voice or that is $2k down the drain.....

I'd like to know this as well. Also, did you have to amplify the signal before running it to the speaker? And, one last thing, which wires did you use to hook up the speaker? I have looked at Onecoolee's instructions, but his color codes don't match what I am seeing - not sure if it is just me or what?

I just had a new HU put in.. I'll ask the installer, when I get a chance to shoot by there and post here in a few days.. He used a basic NAV speaker that comes with one of these over the counter NAV kits.. an dplaced it on the right side in the passengers foot well facing me..

I'm sure it didnt cost much since he didnt charge me.. ANd I'm almost certain that he didnt modify the voltage output.. but I'll ask...

I was hoping to use one of the stock clarion speakers from the rear, provided that the signal was amplified.

Anyone know if that is possible?

I used an Alpine SBS-0715. Ity comes with a 45W amp.

I mounted the speaker between the seats behind me. The amp is small enough to fit anywhere.

Again... $150 (or more) !!?!?!?!?!
I eyed the SBS-0715 and will probably end up biting the bullet and getting it, but my inquiry is CAN IT BE DONE WITHOUT SPENDING MORE MONEY AND RUNNING MORE AMPS!!!!

I also pondered using one of the door speakers (clarion) as the nav voice output... and am wondering the same question:
DOES IT HAVE TO BE AMPLIFIED?????

Default nav speaker

Any small speaker should work. The Nav system contains a small amp already and can power the speaker. I haven't torn into our Z yet so i can't verify the wire colors. If the speaker you choose does not have enough volume a 1-3 watt amp will help. You can find these in kit form from many electronic hobby kit suppliers, at a cost of about $8.
