I think you're mixing up the amp channels..

My bad, You are correct then. As long as the amp says it's stable to 2 ohms, then yes, you can wire the 2 left speakers in parallel to one channel of the amp; and same with the right speakers.

Honestly JL Audio's site is one of the best reference tools available. Here's a link to the subwoofer wiring section but they have tons of other tutorials to help you: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=145
Just choose SVC (Single Voice Coil) or DVC (Dual Voice Coil) and it has the wiring chart for every setup you could possibly do. It even tells you the ohms rating for each set up based on voice coil impedance.
