Question Sub Replacement Problem??? What Brand?

I recently put a new alpine 200 watt amp with a JBL 3 series sub. I'm not happy with the performance. Should i have used an open end sub? What brand are you all using?

if you are installing the sub in the stock BOSE location, forget it. Either buy or build a box and move it to the trunk area, it will sound much much better.

I seem to agree. This $200 JBL sub does not sound as it should. Am i better off putting the stock one back in? or buying an open end aftermarket one like the stock one. I really don't want to put a box in the car.

Thank you

I have the alpine 450 with 200 watts RMS and the stock sub would cut out over 18 volume. It just can't handle any power at all.

I ended up doing this apline 450 with 2 10" type E subs @ 8ohms. Had to turn the gain on the amp all the way up, but it's got thump now.
