I have the AVIC-D3 installed in place of the 2DIN factory radio in an 05 Roadster Touring w/ Bose. I love the D3. I did a LOT of research, and I highly recommend the Metra 99-7402 kit. I got mine on eBay for $19 shipped from "discountcarstereoplus" and it came very quickly. Plus, it fits PERFECTLY. In fact, I've had many guestsin my car ask if the D3 was the factory radio. The 350Z is a tough car to do audio work in, but I assure you that (with a qualified installer) you will not be disappointed.

Get the Metra. You will only need the double din trim piece and clip the crossbar...then you could give the rest of the kit to someone with a single din radio

Ahh... Another satisfied customer. Now, you can pay us back by making some cool D3 backgrounds. Or not... it's up to you.

Ok I posted this question in another thread, but no one answered. I have the D3 and the wiring harness. But I don't have the dash kit. I really want to install it today. Does the dash kit just clean up the look? Or do I need it to make it fit?

Don't compromise your install. If you don't have the kit... wait until you do. If you need the GPS to go for a Sunday trip... that's a different story.

Otherwise, just wait. You'll be glad that you did.

See the below pic of my install as to how the Metra dash kit makes the radio fit perfectly snug in the spot. Without the kit, all that will be empty space.
