Default Normal Voltage?

I remember the voltage on my capacitor in my last car always reading like 13ish even when the music wasnt on, is this voltage high? and if so if it ok or good? All i have is a 4awg added to battery to chassis, and engine to chassis.

Looks like it's a hair over 15vdc. Normal battery voltage is 13.8-14.4vdc, but will flucuate from vehicle to vehicle and under different conditions. I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless you notice other problems.

My voltage meter looks like that when I first start the car in the morning. After a little bit, it drops just below the 14v mark.

+1... Mine too. I did the "Big 3" upgrade using 2 awg wire, in addition to leaving the factory wire intact.
Batt ---> Alt ---> Chassis ---> Batt.

My volt needle sits just like this on my 06. It rarely moves from the time the car is cranked until It's shut off.

mine too. I thought something was wrong until I read this post. I always seem to notice that its under 14 when I'm already blasting my sound system. lol, I guess I'm ok though.

You also have to question the accuracy of the guage. Maybe it is reading a bit high. Throw a Fluke meter on there and figure out what your voltage actually is!

LOL, Ironic thread. My guage is right below 16 and my battery light is on. McIntosh Amps "FTW"!

I have a feeling I toasted the regulator on my alternator. Too much listening to music at idle in the garage.
