All this technical talk is confusing me. If we buy this do we have to still put the key in the ignition?

The PB50 (the module now available) doesn't do ignition switching so you will either need to use a key or provide your own switching system.

The IC50 ("Stage 3" ignition controller) is being developed now. It will provide keyless ignition switching and itegrate with the PB50. We have no ETA on the IC50, but expect it to be at least 3 months.

Even with the PB50 and the IC50 a key will still be required to unlock the mechanical steering wheel lock. This can be bypassed with a drill and some irreversable modifications to the steering column. It IC50 will also not bypass any OEM security so it is very likely that additional parts will be needed.

Nice, the good news is I dont have to worry about steering wheel lock because I never lock it or let it lock when i turn off my car.

The mechanical wheel lock will lock when you turn the wheel if you don't have the key in. So, everyone will have to worry about it, there is no "bypass" for it - you either use the key or you permanently disable the wheel lock.

Got mine today. Looks great. Was just reading through the directions and the wire guide on kptechnologies.com and I found one thing different that I think Have figured out. The website says the white wire goes to dash illumination, and the directions that were shipped say that goes to the brake. I'm assuming this is because the brake safety was added...correct? Now my question is, how does it light up or is it just lit all the time? Other than that everything looks straight forward and I can't wait to install it The install that SFLG35 put up all the pics don't work so I'll do a DIY install with the final version (including brake wire)

Yes, that was a change that was required to make the module capable of automatically cranking the starter. Connect the white wire to the brake (12vdc when brake is pushed down).

The back light on the button is now on whenever the ignition is on. It's so pale in the day light you can't even tell that its on. It really didn't make much sense to switch the back light on and off and we actually recomended that people just connect the illumination wire to 12vdc because it wasn't worth finding and connecting the illumination wire in the vehicle!

So the wires are as stated here...

http://www.kptechnologies.com/forums...php?f=42&t=994

...with the exception of the white wire?

That will help so much with finding wires (especially tach signal)

Yes, those are the wires for the G35 - make sure you verify all wiring with a meter before making any connections - especially the tach wire as there are lots of wires at the ECU.

I updated that thread to reflect the current state of the module.

OK, I feel stupid now for not asking this before. Where is the BCM and where is the ignition switch locations? I just tried to install it, got the lower panels all of and realized I knew what wires to connect to but where those wires were. Pictures would be good. Tried doing some digging to find SFLG35's pictures but all links are gone. Help would be nice

Pretty sure Kevin has said it's a universal system or at least is in principal. So I would assume it will work in a 6th gen, it would just be a matter of finding the right wires to connect to.

Also while I'm thinking of it. Since the g35 has 2 starter wires. Which one do I connect the button to? Or do I connect it to both?

Sorry for the dleays in the response. The BCM should be in the drivers kick. The ignition wires are in a thick bundle going to the physical key switch. I believe I have some pics in the KPtech support forum. For the G35 with two starter wires (and the 350Z) the proper way is to use two relays. However, you can get away using only one.

The stage 3 is under development. Its coming along nicely but its going to take some time to get it working fully. Right now its about 50% or so I would guess. I would expect something around the first of the year for initial testing.

I'm pretty sure sale. I have one that I'm actually doing this weekend.

The tutorial that SFLG35 did none of the pics work. Would anyone like me to do a write up for the G35 with pics?

is there any consideration to use a longer range RFID reader so that it gives you more like 6-7 feet, rather than 6-7 inches? in the end, it would be nice if this interfaced with the door locking and windows so that if it ever stopped responding to your RFID tag, it rolls up your windows and locked the car. This feature would make it impossible to lock your keys in your car.

Due to our modular design anything is possible - we've talked about several different ideas but don't have anything concrete right now. The issue you run in to with long range wireless communications is security and battery life. The 6" range stuff doens't require batteries, the 6' stuff we've researched definately would.

Not needing to change batteries and everything would be a good thing. Would there be anyway to make the RFID tag as part of the key fob? So it would act like the new BMW. Walk up unlock with fob then put the fob somewhere (cup holder lets say) and then it works.

By change do the factory push button systems use RFID so one of the intelligent keys could be programed to work with this?
