If Stage 3 ever comes around it will be a while down the road. We haven't even started development on it.

The less complicated Stage 2 has been in development now for about 6 months trying to work the bugs out!

Pfft. I have to press a button? That's as much work as turning a key. I'd prefer to just think about it. Get to work on the firmware, Kevin.

Here is this weekends progress:

http://www.kptechnologies.com/movies/KPtechPBStart.mp4

I am able to start the car now by simply pushing and releasing the button, there is no need to actually hold the button down. This makes a pretty big difference in the overall "integration" level of the module. You simply put the key in the igntion and turn it to the "ON" position, put your foot on the brake, press and release the start button, and the car starts itself.

I still have a bit of debugging to do, as it has some cold start issues (its about 25 degrees here now). I should have the last bugs ironed out by the end of the week!

The "Stage 2" module is nearing completion. Stage 3 hasn't even been designed yet and there is no commitment that we will ever make a stage 3 version.

The 'auto start' feature is really cool, and I've very excited about it. It is very OEM like, besides the whole key thing. Since I modified it to 'auto start' I use the button every time now. I was about using it about 75% of the time before when I had to hold the button to crank. Once the snow melts I'm going to install the new version in my G35 and make sure it works with no surprises then I'll post some more videos.

I've been testing the system over the past few days and it seems to be working really well. I need to contact our testers of the 'old' module and get them to test the 'new' module.

OK, here are some questions for people who say they are interested in a keyless "stage 3" module. This would be a pushbutton start system that requires no key to be inserted and turned.

How would you bypass the mechanical wheel lock? It appears that the actual lock is built in to a collar on the steering column, it would require quite a bit of work to eliminate it and most likely wouldn't be reversable. If you can't do this yourself how much would you be willing to pay a professional to install it?

How much would be be willing to pay for professional installation? The stage 2 module isn't that bad to install, but the stage 3 will be past the ability of anyone who has never installed a remote start system (must be familiar with OEM security bypass, ignition/accessory/starter wiring, etc).

What we are looking in to now is designing an add on box that will upgrade the stage 2 to stage 3. Right now, our main focus is to get the stage 2 module out, but if there is enough interest then it looks like stage 3 will be a reality. If it weren't for the mechanical wheel lock this would be much, much easier.

I for one, as well as several other on this site, no longer have a steering wheel lock on my car since I have switched to a Personal Steering wheel/ Works Bell quick release combo. As for installation thats something I would give to my audio guy to do. I trust him 100% and I know he shouldn't have a problem with hooking something like this up.

Just my two cents, looking forward to seeing updates. Great work so far.

Do you buy chance have the part that the lock is in that was removed? I would love to see how it is all held together to get an idea of the complexity/reversability of modifying it.
