I don't know about now, but back in the day I had a Venom alarm system on a car and it was pretty good..I forgot the name of the company that owns them , but it's the same company as all the other alarms systems out there if I'm not mistaken...Maybe someone will chime in and help you more..

Skip the 2-way transponder units, the novelty wears off quick and the so called 1-mile range is really a fraction of that once you go through doors/walls/etc.

go with a nice 1 way system, Clifford G5. great alarm. signature 'chirp' sound that people know its a clifford and wont go for your car. add the proximity sensor and you should be set. no more than $400 installed if you shop around.

Yeah...DEI was the company I was thinking of...I agree with r3zon8, The two-way systems are more to show off than anything...I personally know a guy that was in a local mall for no more than 30 min and someone had broke in his car and stole his radio...I think he had a viper two-way system and it didn't notify him that the alarm was triggered. Just remember, if someone wants your stuff, they will find a way to get it no matter what alarm system you have and no matter where you park your car...

whats the difference between the two way and one way alarms? i took your advice and looked into the clifford alarms and they have both kinds, i was looking at the one way G5 avant guard or whatever. Theres lots of kinds which exact one do you suggest? and are there 2 ways good?

two way is just that it will send a page back to you if your alarm goes off etc. One way is just the way it sounds just goes to the car off on unlock lock etc. No page anything like that. If you are outside of that 1/4 mile or so of your car then the page wont go off anyways. Ive had my Silverado SS stolen stripped when i had a audiovox two way alarm even with a backup battery. They went in under the truck with a tool and cut the wires. I dont even put alarms on my cars anymore. I park it in the garage but still. If somebody wants it bad enough they will get it.

I prefer two ways because i am always wondering if i made sure i locked my car and with the 2 way i can look down at my key chain and check. Also even though it wont keep it from getting stolen by professionals it will give you an edge on catching kids breaking into your car.
