Default avic z2 installation?

Hey guys my z2 is coming in i was thinking about trying to tackle this by myself tonight since i have nothing else to do. Save myself about 250 bucks or so. How hard is it on a scale of 1-10 i have the nav. bluetooth and ipod as well. Ive installed single dins etc. but never nav. and all that. I already have a single din in there so the wiring should all work correct? Any pointers or sites you guys could give me to help me out would be great. thanks.

I've installed an Avic-D2 in my Z, with Nav and IPod, and I'd rate it a 6. Hardest part is running the wires. Just takes a lot of time.

Got it from sonicelectronix.com pretty good customer service there as well. I paid 1690 shipped for the z2 bluetooth adapter and ipod cable.

No problem. It really isn't as hard as you might think. All you need is the corresponding harness for the Z, which you can get from Circuit City or Best Buy. Splice those wires into the harness for the Avic, just match the colors up, and you're set. Then basically just plug it all in and you're done. The rest of your time will be putting the hardware in, which really doesn't take much effort either.

I didn't really use the install manual. I've done plenty of A/V installs in cars before, and it's not that difficult. Took me about 2 hours to do the Z.

prob not there is a way around it im sure. But you need one if you care about the sound of your system at all. IMO 2k on a headunit and not replacing speakers to get good sq or at least decent out of your system is crazy.

I just bought my 350z and I was considering putting in a Z2 as well. I actually want to put mine in the storage compartment above the stereo unit. Does anyone know if that is even possible, and if so are there any tutorials out there?

I'm assuming there aren't any dash kits for this, and I might need a custom install. If that is the case does anyone have any reco's for installers? I'm in the SF bay area.

To make it real easy. That the harness to an audio shop and buy the harness that hooks into the Z harness. It should be cheap and all you need to do is plug it in. The other stuff, not to sure on. I have them and they look easy to install, just a b**ch to find a spot for the units.

Not sure if that is possible with an after market unit like that. It may be to deep. I have a friend that bought a screen and put it there.

I installed the Avic D3 myself. I used the pictures and step by step found on this board which I relied on 99%. I even did the by pass. I was in the same boat as the person who posted this (not sure if I could handle it)...it turned out great and I would do it again without hesitation. You learn a lot of how the interior of your Z is put together. Plus, at a later date, I ordered the bluetooth adapter and at first installed it in the dash cubby...and then disassembled and moved it to the rear cubby behind the driver's seat. Learning how to disassemble and reassemble gives you options that a installer would double charge you for. My 2 cents...
