Question Hard wiring V1 (radar)?

I'm wanting to finally hard wire my radar. I know somewhat when it comes to basic simple electronics, so far as 12v source and ground. I have everything needed for it came with the kit.

Question is will it be OK to splice the 12v wire into my existing gauge that I have in the gauge pod on the pillar? These gauges I have are Defi Bf series. There's only one wire there jumping from gauge to gauge, in which I assume is the 12v wire. Will have to put in a grounding screw to have it grounded to the frame (pillar). Would this be correct? AND IS IT ALRIGHT TO SPLICE THIS WIRE ON THE GAUGE ITSELF? It's just one of those clamp on clips (no cutting). Any help would be much appreciated.

As long as it is a switched 12v wire then you should be fine. If it is a constant 12v then your Valentine will stay on when the car is off. Since it is powering your gauges I have to assume it is switched.

I don't know if you've already finished your hardwire but there is a much easier way IMO if you're still interested. Doesn't require any splicing whatsoever.

I am thinking about doing it, could you explain more?

I was thinking of connecting to the rearview mirror wires

I think that actually may work, but I don't have the homelink mirror so that wasn't an option for me... I've heard that's the easiest route to go though.

Anyway for those who don't have the homelink mirror:
Get the mini add-a-circuit from auto-zone or pep-boys.

The "add-a-circuit" works simply like this:
1. cutt off the female connector supplied with the add-a-aicuit and crimp in the blue part of the red wire on the wire you just cut from the add-a-circuit
2. Unplug the 10amp fuse from the radio terminal in your fuse box.
3. There are terminals for 2 fuses on the "add-a-circuit". Plug the 10amp fuse into the proper terminal on the add-a-circuit, and a *2amp*(aka accesory fuse) into the other--Don't worry, the directions with the add-a-circuit tell you which terminal gets the original 10amp, and which gets the 2amp fuse.
4. Obviously connect the male end of the hardwire kit into the (now modified, see step 1) add-a-cicuit.
5. Ground the ground wire on any bolt connected to the frame under the dash
6. Plug the add-a-cicuit into the terminal from which you pulled the 10 amp side mirror fuse, test your mirrors and RD, button the fuse box up, and go!

It's actually really easy. I just put the hardwire stuff under the steering wheel behind on top of the plastic (under the dash).

mine goes on and off with the ignition. You might have tapped the wrong pin.

The instructions that came with my cord from Stealth Cords has the following:

04-06 350z - black w/ pink wire
07+ - brown wire

Also for those interested I did a little searching online and found a coupon code for stealthcords.com for 10% off: nissan350z

It worked for me!

Rick, the invisicord is less expensive and the Infiniti version was a collaboration between G35/350Z owners and myself. Why the smoke and mirrors for your website, just come out and ask folks for input?

That is your website, per the registrar info, so I guess I am a bit confused. I guess I can see this, kinda like the Hair Club for Men, you are the owner but a customer too.

I got invisicord and installed in less then 10 minutes yesterday. The Valantine mount from County Joy is awsome and easy to install also .
