Unhappy Amp wont turn on!!!

Hi guys,

I am totally stumped because i dont' know why my amp isn't working, 2 weeks ago, i was cruising around chilling when all of a sudden all the sound goes out in my car (i wasn't blasting it), at first i thought it was my head unit but it looked like it was still working, as was my ipod, so i thought damn my amp blew, i went back to the place i got my amp from and they gave me a new one, i got home and plug it in and it STILL doesn't work. So i thought i had a bad ground, i sanded down the area and it still not working (its sunday so i cant get any more cable to try to ground it anywhere else). I tried dragging new wire for the remote cable thinking thats why the amp wouldn't turn on, still nothing. I'm incredibly angry and really don't know what to do.

does this seem like a grounding problem? anyone know a good shop that wont charge me an arm and a leg around NYC?

here is my setup:

6.5 soundstream speakers all around
alphasonik 400 series 10" sub in a Zenclosure understrut box
alphasonik pmz120005 5 channel amp
Avic-N1 with n3 software

any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

use a multimeter or a voltmeter and make sure you are getting 12v from the constant and switched (aka amp turn-on or remote wire), and test that the ground is actually grounded. If it still wont turn on, then it is the amp that is bad. BTW a fuse can look ok and actually be blown (first thing I would check).

If it turns on and then goes out, check that the speakers hooked up to it aren't grounding out or overloading the amp.

All I got.

Get this and test both your power and remote wire to the amp.

http://chinafuhaote.en.alibaba.com/p...it_Tester.html

It might just be your amp live wire blew a fuse or something wrong with your remote.

i would start by checking the fuses, both the inline on the power cable and the fuse taht is occasionally on the amps themselves. If that doesn't help go with the voltmeter and test everything out just as stated above. If that doesnt work i would just retrace every wire and make sure it is not damaged or make sure it connected properly. Hope you get it working.

i say check the fuse near the battery. Aslo check to make sure the power wire hasn't come loose from the +12V terminal
