Factory deck does not play CDR's well
Has anyone else noticed that the stock Stereo/CD player does not play many CDR's without skipping. My regular CD's play fine. My CDR's play fine in my other car but about 50% of the CDR's skip in my Z?
Seems odd to me my old CD player in my other car plays CDR's fine but my 2003 350Z skips with them....

Thanks guys for trying to help me out. Just so you know:
1. CD's can be brand new, play in home deck or other car or portable CD player without skipping but skip in Z. Then, i take it back to other decks, it does not skip.
2. Tried different type of CDR's including Sony etc, still skips.
3. Oddly, some CDR's play fine, others not very well. Yet all play in other decks without skipping....
Nice to know you guys are not having problems. I wonder if this is a warranty issue? I am thinking of buying a new Eclipse head anyways just to get a better deck and to get rid of this problem but i would prefer not to spend the money. I replaced everything already but the head, stereo already sounds great...

Actually the FUJI CD-R's are some of the best ones. They're pretty much all Tayo-Yuden discs manufactured in Japan. TDK also has some TY discs.
Stick to those and you'll be fine. Also (optionally) when burning music for the car, its best to keep it below 16x to keep errors minimal.
I've got over 20 fuji cdrs that work great... haven't skipped once.

Ocassionally I have the same problem as Zland. But the strange thing is that the first tracks (1-4 or 1-5) play great but then they'll start cutting out. All the CDR's that do this also play great in all my other players. I've tried cleaning and resurfacing them and they do the same thing. It only happens on CDR's not pre-recorded CD's.

I used maxtor, and sony(and imation, NEVER gotten an imation to work), both worked sometimes and not other times in my last car, it was wierd, it always went by the pack, not by the CD, every CD out of 50 in one pack wouldnt play, and every one in another pack would.
fuji is the only one that has NEVER given me trouble, didnt know they were good, figured they sucked cause there sooo cheap at compusa.

no skip with Memorex
No skip with Memorex CDR. (as far as i can tell)
Although, my buddy who is a home audiophil sat in my car and when i started the stereo, the first thing he said to me was.."that is a CD-R you are playing in your stereo." I'll try playing an original CD and see if i can hear the difference.
BTW,
I have the non-BOSE system and personally the Stereo is my Z is the worst Car stereo i have ever had. But that was what i expected anyways. didn't buy for car for it's sound system.

I have the Bose and it plays original cds fine but cdr's sound terrible. I didn't have a problem with skipping but most of the songs sounded horrible and this is after replacing my speakers. So I stick to my mp3 player which sounds great.

Try burning them at a lower speed. A lot of CD Burners have trouble tracking well at higher burn speeds, and lowering the burn speed will allow for a bit more tolerance on laser alignment on the part of the players.
Media has much less to do with this than actual burner and speed. If you're having problems, switch to a quality media, and buy a plextor.
