Hey guys i have one 10 in my car right now but thinking of adding another. Will my 500/1 be enough power to push both of them pretty hard? thanks.

I used that same set up and had no complaints. as long as you have a proper enclosure for it.

more power than rms is always better than less power than rms

jl 1000.1 or buy a 2nd 500.1

if i currently have one 500/1 amp and am getting 2 subs, would you guys recommend 10w6v2 or 10w3v3? the w6v2 seems like overkill.

i would never run less than rms

i always run more than rms

w6 are good with 500 clean watts each ported and 750 watts clean sealed
so 2 x w6 ported 1000 watts , 2 x w6 sealed 1500 watts

w3 , if you want them, same principal rule as w6
w3 at full rms ported and rms and 1/2 sealed clean power

sealed means the enclocure is air tight

ported means the enclosure has a port to vent air, either aero ports , precision ports , of slot ports

#'s for W3 are you asking RMS power handling or price

A 500/1 is:

Good for powering 2 10w3's within the recommended powerband (300 watts rms each); a hair under combined rms, but close enough not to make much of a difference.

A little weak for powering 2 10w6's within the powerband (400 watts rms each), but will get the job done. You won't get the most from the woofers.

so... either way, a 500/1 is not enough to power both the subs at their optimum powerband. great. now what do i do lol.

Well, what's your hopeful end result? Do you need your sub bass louder? What is your front setup?

well i have a jl audio 12w3v2 for bass but i'd like it to be more defined and also a bit louder. for my fronts i'll be picking up elemental design components but i don't currently have an amp in mind. i guess i don't have to run the subs at optimum power, i dont need glass shattering bass.

OK, the 500/1 will be perfect for 2 10w3's in my opinion. You won't be pushing each one optimally, but you will have double the cone surface area which will in effect add 3dB. If you find you are still lacking after you add your fronts and amp (and tune it properly), then maybe try to sell your 500/1 (should be easy to sell) and pick up a higher powered amp.......something around 750x1 rms.

you are going to want to wait to tune everything until after you get your fronts in. then what you need to do is get the gains set properly, then xover points, then eq it (if you have an eq on your head, or an outboard eq)

Some really good reading here:
