Question Good amp that fits under passenger seat?

Anyone recommend a good 4 channel minimum amp that easily fits under the passenger seat of the Z?

Any slim models anyone can recommend. Need to beef up this POS BOSE HU.

I dont know if you could have both the bose amp and a separate 4ch going at the same time. Too much power for the speakers. But anyway i wouldnt put an amp under the seat cause it might not keep the amp cool. Some amps are fine and some ive seen just overheat into protection mode all the time

Yeah you can't really put a high level signal into another amplifier (4ch into Bose). The Bose has to be bypassed in order for it to function properly.

But under the seat is the coolest part of the interior of the car. And at least on the passenger there is quite a lot of space for air to circulate. Besides, even if it is mounted up high in between the rear strut bar and the seats, it's not like there is a huge draft hitting them. And they have exposure to the sun (sunlight on metal not so good).

If you are using an amp small enough to fit under the seats (around 100x4 or 600x1 max), and wire the system correctly, overheating really shouldn't be an issue.

Yes I am going to bypass the BOSE amp with the PAC audio connector.

I only need 40 watt RMS for the Kappa speakers I am going to install.

Thanks guys, I will check out the Eclipse and Mephis, I like your install Hightechz, just slide the seat forward to adjust.

Alpine PDX series.

Incredibly small for their power output. They are designed to be placed in small spaces.

Bump here... I am looking to install an amp under my passenger seat eventually (Spring). Is there mounting holes/location already in place? I have an 07 Enthusiast, and I am hoping I won't need to drill into the floor for fear it will punch through. How did some of you secure your amp under the pass. seat?

My amp is about 2.5 inches tall and clears the seat by a mile.
I think you should ask for measurements rather than specific amps.

Good luck!

How are you guys keeping the amp flat? The floor under the seats isn't level; there is a 3" tall hump unded there (under each seat).

For flat floor, the general practice is to insert a 1" thick piece of MDF under the carpet and drill holes into it through the carpet; amp stays solid while driving.

Medium Density Fiberboard. Basically it's sawdust pressed and glued into a 4'X8' sheet like plywood.

Thanks for the explanation. So whats the best method for securing under seat then if there is a hump? Could you place small squares under the carpet beneath each mounting hole and screw through, using the carpet as the anchor?

Up.....You who have installed the amp under the seat, do you have electric seats? Cause I bought a JL Audio G2250 which is small for an amp and when the passenger seat is being pushed backwards it hits somehow the amp...So I am searching for alternate positions..
