Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what i understand the D-3 only has one cd drive. Therefore it doesn't allow you to use the cd player and navigation at the same time?
If that is true, does it get annoying not being able to both at the same time?
i was thinking about getting one for my dad for x-mas, he's always getting lost
Thanks!

yes, you can't have the cd and nav in at the same time.
No it's not annoying. but i have stock integrated navigation on the top cubby so it's all good. I also run my IPOD on my stereo. You can still listen to IPOD or the radio if you have your navi disc.

Oh cool, i didn't know about the route memory feature. Also true, i rarely ever actually use my d-2 to navigate. Thanks for the info! I think im gonna go ahead and order one. Does any know of a site that has a better price than this?

It's not as annoying as most people conceive it to be. If you're truly concerned about using discs, you're better off without a touch screen. Most of my customers that choose the D3 leave the navigation disc in, and use iPod.
There are devices that handle GPS function and CD/DVD players simultaneously without compromising either function. I cannot imagine any good reason to use a DVD-based (or a DVD/HDD-based) navigation device that demands inserting a DVD for navigation when you have much better choices that cost the same or less while providing much faster operation, better reliability, and cost less. And, loading resident memory from a CD/DVD for navigation is a only patch (to provide better performance) giving weak systems a little longer life in the marketplace.
DVD-based (and DVD/HDD-based) navigation devices are a dead-end since the ROM/RAM devices are faster, more reliable, and cost less to manufacture.
