Default IPOD tranmitter?

What wireless transmitters do you guys use in your Z's? I finally joined the 21st century and got my firs IPOD, the IPOD touch. The problem is that I also bought the Belkin wireless FM transmitter for it and I get a lot of static. Anyone have a solution to this problem, maybe a better transmitter.

Belkin is trash. I have a Monster transmitter, works great. Or at least it did when I used it...I haven't used my mp3 player in the Z since I got it.

I tried a couple transmitters the DLO and monster. Both worked good in other cars but the Z it sounded not so good. I would just play CD's.

maybe you have your volume too high? try a different frequency, that's about the only thing that sucks with wireless. The sound quality isn't too good but atleast you have access to all your Ipod songs. I got mine from bestbuy (I forgot the brand name) I'll check once I get in my car again.

or you can buy a new headunit with an mp3 jack? quality stuff.

I use this one as well with my video iPod. Works quite well. I believe you can find it at Best Buy.

i use a cassette adapter- it sounds great compared to the fm transmitter because you can turn up the volume on the ipod itself to avoid any hissing- which is much better than static.

First off,

Now that that's out of the way, check the A/V sub-forum for a recently resurrected thread on the Axxis iPod interface. Looks like you don't own a Z yet. Will it have Bose or not? That will affect your decision.

I use the DLO Transdock Micro. Only FM transmitter I have ever actually liked. It works quite well, and I get almost zero static or interference.

Also with any transmitter, you're going to want to jack the volume up on the mp3 player itself (I turn mine all the way up), then adjust using the stereo volume. This will minimize most of the static.

I do have a Z, it is the roadster. Jeffnot, how do I use a cassette adapater? I dont have a cassette player in the Z. So it sounds like the monster is the way to go. I will have to check it out.
Any good recomendations on which head units contain a jack for the player?

Does the Z fm signal just suck?

I recently bought a Griffin iTrip fm transmitter and while sitting near the radio or din pocket it sounds fine, but every time i grab it to change songs it gets very staticky!

So i have to leave it still, anyway to improve this?

I have a JVC headunit, i bought the transmitter because i didn't want deal with wires.

$20 special from wal-mart. Works like a charm.

Only complaint is the power socket is in between the seat, so if I want to change songs I prettymuch have to pull over

Another reason i bought the Griffin itrip was because its powered by the ipod (i have a 2nd Gen nano)

Do you think the power is not strong enough to give a good signal?

I have tried these FM transmitters and I have come to the conclusion that the sound/fidelity is horrible. I would just buy a new head unit that uses the Ipod interface cable. Have the installer run the interface wire to the center cubby so you Ipod is hidden from view.

Most of them now (my 2 year old alpine) had the connection in the back, so you could run it into, say, the glove compartment, totally unseen. Obviously, not an option on the z, but if youre saying the same general thing but the cubby hole acting as the glove compartment, then good call

+1!

Heck even my 2006 Scion TC has the Ipod interface/controls on the steering wheel. I wish it came on my Z.

fm transmitters are all f'in terrible sound quality, can't stand them, especially if you live near any major city with plenty of radio stations.

Now complete your transition into the 21st century and upgrade your factory HU to one that has built in iPod capability. Seriously, a direct USB connection or even wireless bluetooth connection from your iPod to a HU will sound far superior to an FM transmitter.
