Its time to upgrade. I dont know for sure but i believe they are crappy generic speakers that come stock with the Z. Any other brand would be an improvement over the stock speakers and i think you should go that route. THe speaker size is 6-1/2 to 6-3/4 components.

Unless you've got the BOSE option, it's a Clarion OEM model. Not available for retail sale (unless you want to go to the dealer). I've got a set of OEM front Clarions from an '06 Z if you're interested.

Just about any aftermarket speaker is better than the OEM Clarions. I would suggest to stay away from a Nissan factory replacement (if it even is available)

However, feel free to salvage the bracket the clarions are in by cutting out the cone and assembly. That way you won't run into any depth problems with your new speakers.

I just replaced my front and rear speakers. I don't like to advertise but... I got a lot of good info on Crutchfield.com. Crutchfield will identify all the brands and size speaker that will fit.

+1

if your not careful, your window wont roll down all the way. Pay attention to magnet size on your speaker replacment compared to the stock size.

I would shop online instead of going to best buys. You should be able to get the same or better speakers for a cheaper price.....crutchfield is great for info but their prices are higher compared to other websites. Get the info from crutchfield and search the web for the speakers you want for a cheaper price. If you have extra money in your budget running speakers with an amp would give you the best sound though installing it will cost you more money.

If you have a Flea Market in your area, I'd say check out the speakers there. I always buy my speakers there and I have never run into any problems with them. And they are ALWAYS cheaper than buying at Best Buy or some other big Audio retailer.

Dont worry about that any competent installer will either put a spacer or check to make sure your window is still functional. If you are really paranoid you could search around for shallow mount speakers which will have a smaller form factor in the back...........

Wait..... are you implying that Flea Market speakers get installed into a 35k vehicle?!?

Ok I'll bite, what brands are you acquiring at said flea market? How much was your last speaker purchase?

like someone said, crutchfield will tell you which ones are shallow enough for the front. but, you dont have to buy from there. also, if you look at pics of the bracket adapter, you can easily make them. I used the OEM adapter as a template.

almost any aftermarket 6.5" speaker will require a spacer or your window will hit the speaker. you can use the factory speaker by cutting out the cone or you can fab a spacer of your own (cutout a piece of 3/4" mdf to be placed between the door panel and the speaker). if you are going to upgrade speakers, get something good and not something "to get by" at best-buy. actually, the flea-market can be a great place to start shopping....our flea-markets in houston have some high-end equipment for a much better deal than local audio shops and some even do installs on-site. but personally, i'd buy on the net. you can find really great deals on high-end speakers. my recommendation is Diamond Audio components which can be had for $199. but the tweeters will not fit in the factory location without major modifications.....something to consider when upgrading speakers (whether or not you want to cut into plastic trim panels on your car).

good luck
