I want to install a push button starter in my 03 Touring model. What other sites/companies besides Ignited make a kit for them or a universal kit ?

 

A kit is being made by a member on G35driver to incorporate the G37 and new G35 sedan's push button starter. It will work on a Z. Definitely run a search there and find it. The kit is done, I just don't know if it has been released to the public. A number of members have it installed already.

The release of the KPtechnologies kit has been delayed a little so we can add a new feature.

Basically, when our kit is done, you'll be able to press and release the button and the module will start the car for you, just like OEM.

No other kit available has this feature.

 

I'd be interested in this, let us know when there is more info!

 

I want this push-start button! More gadgets to make the people go "ooh" and "aah".

And a sportier feel IMO

No, the key will still need to be in the ignition to unlock the steering wheel and satisfy the requirements of the Nissan transponder security system.

This version of the module is completely unintrusive to the OEM security features.

But, like I said, once it's done you'll be able to simply press and release the button, instead of holding the button down for the duration of the 'crank' part of starting the car.

 

What is the point of a push button start if you have to put the key in? Wouldn't you still have to stick the key in and turn it half way? Why not turn your wrist 10 degrees more and start it.

 

It's just another gadget.

Whenever I have someone in my car and I pushbutton start it they always comment on it. It draws a lot of attention, most likely because it is still somewhat new and not many people have seen them in OEM form.

It isn't a convenience thing at all, it's more of a 'look at what I have' thing.

Where would we install it?

 

Mine is installed where my cigarette lighter was, but I drive a G35. It is really up to personal preference and wherever there is room.

 

So KP, is there any expected date when the new module will be ready ?

 

As soon as possible. The new feature required quite a bit of modification to the original design, so its taking a bit longer then I expected. I had to add an entire routine to monitor and program a tach signal for the unit to monitor so that it knows when to shut the starter off.

As of right now I have all the code done for the programming part, now I just have to finish the actual starting side of it.

Here's an idea in addition to the push button...
I always wanted a passcode type of starter system. I think I saw this in the movie transporter 1. Basically, a driver punches a passcode to the numberpad somewhere in the car to start.
Of course our key will need to be inserted and turned to unlock the steering wheel lock, but but somehow disable to start using just the key for security purpose. If done right, I think this will be a good security feature not just for coolness factor.
Is this a feasible idea?

 

viper already makes a keypad add on like this. My 300zx had one when I bought it and I quickly got rid of it as it was retarded. I guess I could see if you were in a high crime area. Also most of them are pretty easy to bypass.
