Default Bose Sound

My Z didn't come with Bose from factory. Would it be better to install the original Bose 350Z system or to just go aftermarket??????????????????????

I wouldnt say Bose blows, but the Bose system in the 350z definatly doesnt seem to be on par with the typical Bose products. I wouldnt waste the money getting the 350z Bose system, go aftermarket, it will sound better, no doubt about it.

get a good component system, and I believe JL makes a "Zenclosure" or something just for the Z, and JL kicks *** (for the sub). so component system, new head unit, amp, and JL sub is my recommendation. there are a lot of good companies that make components (infinity, polk, pheonix gold, JL etc.), head units and amps...same gig, lots a good companies aftermarket. typicly you get what you pay for in car audio.

I have touring model z--->bose system! I dont like it!

Generally speaking: Eclipse or Alpine head unit. Kicker speakers and JL sub and amps imo !

I would do aftermarket, I made some custom bracketry and made some block off lates to seal the hole behind the drivers seat, I have a base model. I am about to add another sub behind the passenger seat.

From my 1.5 years with the Bose system they are made for good quality sound(meaning balanced sound), not booming bass. I regret getting the Bose system in my Z. I have to replace everything to get a good sound out of the car. Bose only work well with Bose..nothing else so far for me.

Thats just saying you want loud smooth bass with no overlapping of frequencies.

((Aftermarket all the way))

Search through some threads here, you will find MANY systems recommended and/or installed. listen to as many component sets as you can to get a feel for the sound YOU like. That is more important than anyone here (myself included) recommending a set that they like.

sorry, should have clarified. the bose system in the z sucks.

for recommendations, state a budget to work with and im sure people can give you some.

but to start off, think about getting a headunit,(preferably double din just cause i think it looks better in the Z), a set of 6 1/2 inch components for the doors, and an amp to run them.

then if you want, a sub, enclosure, and amp to run the sub.
(or you could get 1 amp and run all of the above)

good luck!

No, you were right the first time. Bose is getting by on their name these days because back 25+ years ago they made a studio monitor with I think 43 3" drivers that had a completely flat response across the board from something like 30Hz up tp 20kHz. I forget the specifics, but you get the idea. I have listened to many of the Bose products and feel that every single one of them colors the sound too much.

just like JL Audio..

it seems the same set of people who get caught in Bose marketing then go aftermarket and get trapped in JL Audio's marketing

Bose like JL is overpriced and over marketed
