Default Noise when system powers down?

i have a 10" JL W7 with 500/1 amp.

when i power off the sound system via the head unit, about 2-4 seconds after the system shuts off, i hear like a "thump" or "pop" type noise coming from the sub.

any ideas what this could be? voice coils?

check your power wiring.. sounds like your remote wire might not be connected properly.. i get that pop sound when i turn off my mixer at home before turning off the amplifiers

^hmmm. i'll check that... because it is only coming from the sub, not the mids. so i am wondering if its a problem with the sub and/or its corresponding amp, or that the noise is just at such a low frequency that it only comes through the sub.

sounds like a relay pop. It is caused by components in the system turning off before the amplifier completely shuts off. In most cases, the component will be an EQ or signal processor. Usually adding a little turn-off delay to the offending processor can fix the problem. This allows the processor to turn off after the amplifier, preventing the pop. Many components have this feature built in, and it is adjustable.

^so if this is the case, then you are telling me that my subwoofer is turning off before my amp does, correct? and how do i go about fixing that?

No, more like the headunit/EQ/processor/etc. is cutting off the audio signal to the amp before the amp powers off.

i believe (not sure, someone correct me), people use to put relays and diodes in the 12 volt line.

but not sure why you get this in the first place. We both have the same set up.

Are you using your oem headunit with an inline converter or something?

no just an Alpine IVA-W200. i know my remote wire is thinner than what is normal, i dont know if that has anything to do with it?

fyi i'm running a 4 gauge from the battery to a fuse block distributor that splits into another 4 gauge (for the sub amp) and a 8 gauge (for mids amp)

sub woofer is ok. You might wanna look into installing a Bosch relay to handle all you triggering. Use the HU's blue remote wire to activate the Bosch relay, but allow the relay to turn on everything...
