Have a question that has probably been answered a billion times, but to lazy to search. Instead of having a cluster fu#k of "Avic D3" threads, just post here.

Has anyone created a fake face plate from any old radio for the avic d3 to deter thieves?

This could become a great thread!

How about we start with its webpage: Avic-D3

Bypass mod to allow you to watch video while driving..
http://www.avic411.com/D3Bypass/

To upload your own custom backgrounds to the D3..

First, make sure the pictures are 500W x 240H (not sure if that will affect loading, but it will look best) and you HAVE to save them as either baseline standard or baseline optimized JPG files. It will not work if they are a progressive JPG.

Second, you have to save all your images in a single folder on the CD titled "PICTURES". It works best if you burn straight to disk from a Windows folder instead of going through a program such as Nero or Roxio.

Third, pop the CD into your D3 and allow it time to load up. (I forget the menu buttons you press in order to change the wallpaper off the top of my head. I will edit this tomorrow )

And if anyone is interested in buying one right now is a great time to do it. Pioneer is offering a $200 rebate on all D3s. But you must buy from a Authorized Retailer. I just picked up a D3x off of Amazon for under $800 - $200mir = $600 shipped.

Two quick questions which Ive gotten a response on but want to be sure of what I need to do:

1. Bluetooth not working properly - my phone connects fine but I do not hear caller nor can they hear me. Ive been told that the cable is probably plugged into the wrong jack in the bluetooth unit, is there any other things that could cause this if my unit IS hooked up properly?

2. Radio signal - My radio reception is terrible now and I practically get 0 stations. Ive been told that I probably dont have my power antenna wire connect to the antenna control wire. I told this to my installer and he said the power antenna wire should only be used for cars with....power antennas that go up and down. Ive also read about Nissan antenna adapters, do I need to get one of these?

Dude, seriously, no offense but I answered this question in the other thread. You know, the one where people that have installed/use the D3 (some, like me, more than once) are posting and know what they're talking about.

Let me phrase this clearly. Your installer is a dumba$$.

The Nissan 350Z has a POWERED antenna amplifier which MUST get a switched +12v source or it does NOT function. Now, Nissan didn't just throw an antenna amp on the Z because they had a few thousand laying around and figured, "hell we'll just use 'em on the Z car".

The antenna amp is there because without it, our antennas suck. Simple. So, again, I'll repeat. Your installer doesn't know WTF he's talking about. If you don't hook up that blue lead as I directed in the other thread then don't. But your radio isn't going to "magic" itself into working.

Sorry bud, I don't wanna seem harsh, but it just irks me when people come in and ask for help. GET the help. Then choose not to take/believe it/follow it. Then stand around asking the same question over and over. As the lawyers say in the court room... Asked and Answered. Move on.

Granted, but when a professional installer contradicts what a random person on a forum has said, Id like to get my facts straight so I can explain it to the installer. Sorry you got bent out of shape, Ill have the Z at the shop today and explain the solution to the installer and see how it works out. Thanks

Trust me, I'm NOT "bent out of shape". Why? The radio on my D3 works just dandy.

Good Luck to ya. I hope you get yours working as well.

I tried to search for it, but is there an install out there for the Avic D3 with a stock 03 bose system?

Would it be possible to install a separate touch sceen in the cubby using the 2003 cubby and having the HU display GPS on that? That way you can have navigation AND full access to the audio features or video playback at the same time and the NAV will be mounted closer to eye level.

Is that possible?

I looked on avic411.com and found that it's not possible to display the navigation screens on a separate screen.

calling out to the audio gods to please create one, and/ or make the perfect list of what is needed to get the D3 to work with the stock bose (03 preferably), and issues that a DIY'er could possibly run into. Any help is appreciated.
