I installed the AVH-P4000DVD last night, and man is this head unit great.

I converted a bunch of music videos with ConvertXtoDVD and burned a DVD... playback is amazing on this thing.

I have to pick up that switch from radio shack today, --right now I have the wires sitting in my ash-tray and I touch them together to disable the dvd playback while driving.

You def need the momentary switch hook up. Just grounding the wire will not work.

Check out www.avic411.com There are many threads there on how to do the by-pass. If I remember correctly,,,it only involves removing a pin from top part of harness to the bottom. Dont forget,,,Its illegal for the DVD to play while car is in motion. Although, I am sure you are doing this for the "passenger's enjoyment"...:-)

^ Honestly,,,I didn't really see anything but print out of instructions. Before I spent any money,,,,I would check out the website I suggested. I would hate for you to spend money on something that is listed step-by-step on www.avic411.com Again,,this is just my opinion. I hope everything goes well.

That might work,,,but I would not be the one to say "yes". Again, I have the Alpine W-200 headunit and the PAC TR-7, which is made for the Alpine's, does great. It seems this might do the same thing. I am sorry I cannot be of more help,,,but I would keep researching,,,,,try posting on the Avic411 website,,,,I am sure someone there will chime in and point you in the right direction concerning the Pioneer headunits. Good luck,,,keep us posted on what you find out...

Buy it and be done with it. That works perfectly with the 4000. I've had mine for about a month now.

Nice.

Even better is your photo skills. This is just a great picture with perfect lighting and contrast. Your picture looks very professional.

Questions:
  • How did you illuminate (lighting is great) this picture?
  • What camera and lens (focal length) did you use?

I was pretty impressed with the picture myself, but all I used was a Nikon Coolpix L11 on a nice clear day.

I also took these pictures same time I took the pic of the pioneer...

Im really considering the AVHp4000 or the kenwood DDX512. The Kenwood is about $75 more (ebay prices). Since their both about the same price I dont see any other differences other than appearance and menus. Any other specs that would make one the better choice?

You will need a toggle switch to watch videos while driving. A 2 prong toggle switch. Just connect the long green wire(parking brake wire) to the positive prong and use a ground wire for the negative prong. (I grounded to the metal bracket behind dash). Now everytime you want to watch videos while driving pop in the dvd or ipod, after the HU say "format read" the warning message pops up saying you cant watch while driving. From here just turn the switch on and off. The Video menu then pops up. Press "ok" and enjoy!

alls u need to do is pull the hand-brake to the first click. engages the brake light, and u can watch movies while driving.

and the brake pads will not even touch the rotors.
