Default JVC KW-XG700 or Kenwood DPX502

I was looking at replacing the factory Head Unit with either the JVC KW XG700 or the Kenwood DPX 502.

Any one have pics of either of these two units installed in a Z? Specifically all lit up? Or just a general opinion of these units?

My worry is that they will completely clash with the Amber lights of the car, Im avoiding the Pioneer FH-P800BT because of the very bright blue light.

I dont want to go with a video touch screen as my Z is only a summer car and I feel it is a little bit of overkill on such a car.

Thank you!

I'd get the DPX502 over the JVC. It has better functions, better looks and styling, better controls, and a better name (quality?).

The lighting will not clash as much as you think it would. Looks good IMO, and you'll be thankful for the change.

So no one actually owns either of these units that can give me a first hand how it looks, sounds, fits, and so on? Im not having any luck finding a picture of these things installed anywhere. For the almost 90 hits it seems that others are intrested in these units as well!

I like the Kenwood, looks like it would match the interior of the car better than the JVC.. but, I doubt it's going to fit nice and flush like some of the touchscreens out on the market now.. looks like the face is bulged out.. but, it's your car.. do whatever. I don't think it would look bad..

I don’t think either device will look quite right in the Z, but that’s just a personal opinion.

For sure the JVC will look pretty bad since it has rounded lines that don’t match the Z’s center console. The JVC would be better in the Mazda RX-8 since it matches the round interior lines of this car.

I suggest you look at a Clarion single-din H/U’s and mount this using a Metra kit. Depending upon the Clarion model selected; you will get better SQ with more features, an extra storage shelf with the Metra kit, and nearly an exact match for the stock amber lighting.

Spike, I have a Mazda RX-8 and you can't put a aftermarket H/U in it.. the radio and A/C controls are all one unit.. The Bose system I have in my RX-8 is better than the non-bose system in my 350Z for sure.. but, your limited on what you can do in a RX-8

I'm planning a swap in an RX-8. You have to match function "buttons" in the swapped H/U. I haven't decided which brand to go with yet, but it's possible.
