I believe you have not done enough research on your product. The DNX5120 uses a Flash Drive for their Navigation memory, which has been discussed in many other post as being far superior than a hard drive. Also the D3 does not even use a true hard drive for there navigation it is DVD based, which means you must always take the DVD disc in and out when you want to input new destinations. As far as the Hard Drive for Music the D3 does not have a hard drive that will let you store music on it. Most people think they need a hard drive to store music on it, but in reality all they need is an Ipod. With an Ipod you could have 120G of music and video and still spend less than buying a head unit with a hard drive built in. You could purchase a DNX5120 and a 160G Ipod with a better navigation system less than you would buy a unit with hard drive navigation and 8G hard drive that only stores music. Do not forget you can still take your Ipod with you when you leave the car.

I just bought an 8gb thumb drive for $30ish and hook it up to my 5120 -- works fantastic.

as you can see from what i said above I know about using an Ipod I just dont like to because i hate the way you load music on to it. I'm a computer tech and I find it hard to understand. I do know to work it but i dont' like it.
Right now I'm waiting for the pioneer avic f900bt unless i find something else that suites my needs. I really like that the f900 has an SD cad slot. you can get 8 gig sd cards these days for cheap.
I basically want a double din nav with orange or red lights and a stationary screen. no pop up. everything else is negotiable.
