Default Factory NAV. Why can a NO nav car not get factory Nav?

I am curious as to why this is on the Z. My 540i was able to. I was hoping to do the same for the Z. Any explanation would be great? Is it because no one WANTS to do it? ie the factory DVD technology vs. other aftermarket out there?

Keep me posted. I'd love to find out more.

+1, is kinda explained in this thread: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ght=navigation. It's really not anywhere close to being cost efficient to even attempt it. I did this and couldn't be happier: https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-video/364545-kenwood-navigation-in-03-cubby-install.html

about how much does this setup cost? Did you install it yourself? I assume it works with the factory bose system? I am VERY interested as this setup looks VERY similar to factory equipment.

OK, you actually can put the stock nav system in a z that didn't come with it - I've done it once before. It's about 12 hours worth of wiring work and you get to cut open the stock harness and have fun playing with lots of wires. Cost effective - not really. Your better off with an aftermarket nav.

The only reason I did it was because we had two z's and decided to move the nav over to the one without it and sell it - go figure .

The nav receiver is under the dash on the passenger side behind the airbag up towards the window - u can't see it. Or mabye it was the driver's side under the dash - can't remember exactly - but it's one of those spots.

I realize you're new here, but re-asking your question on a 13-year old discussion won't usually bring any answers. You might try using the PM (private messaging) feature to contact an individual, but most of these folks haven't been active for years.
