Default For All You V1 Owners..do You Experience This

OK..I GOT MY V1 HARDWIRED...1 QUESTION BEFORE I START THE THREAD..IS THERE ANY WAY THAT A PLACE CAN HARDWIRE IT THE WRONG WAY SO THAT IT DOESNT WORK PROPERLY (I MEAN I KNOW PPL CAN DO IT WRONG...BUT IM ASKIN IF THEY CAN MAKE A MISTAKE THAT ISNT DETECTABLE MEANING THE RADAR WORKS BUT YOU WOULD KNOW IF IT WORKS TO THE FULLEST..

OK...SO LET ME START THE THREAD....I USUALLY DONT PAY ATTENTION TO MY RADAR IN COMMERCIAL AREAS BECAUSE IT JUST GETS DAMN ANNOYING...BUT WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAYS (OR ROADS W/O STORES) WHEN DO YOU START PAYING ATTENTION TO YOUR RADAR

IF ITS RINGING ON x BAND BUT ONLY A WEAK SIGNAL THAT DOESNT EVER GET STRONGER ..WATS THE DEAL WITH THAT

I GET THAT SOMETIMES...IF THERE IS IN FACT A COP HOW FAR IS HE WHEN IT GIVES A "STREGNTH OF "1" ON X BAND"

I HAVE IT FOR A MONTH AND HAVNT GOT A TICKET (I KNOW THATS NOT SAYING MUCH)...BUT I JUST WANT TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO "READ" THE RADAR DETECTIONS PROPERLY.

I MEAN SOMETIMES IT DETECTS 8 RADARS WHICH IS OBSURD AND I KNOW ITS PROBOBLY A STORE OR SOMETHING

ANYONE WANNA GIVE A QUICK LESSON??

PLEASE

Here's a lesson.. See the caps light light on the top of your keyboard? Turn it off!! Now, if you have it hardwired and it is working, it's probably fine. There is no way you can wire it so it would be working, but not completely. It does, or it doesn't. Unless it's shutting off and on for now reason. As for the X band, if you don't like it, then use the advanced logic mode because it blocks that signal out. Some small communities may use it still for radar, but very few. Mainly the signals you are getting are from high tech security systems that use that same frequency.

Default X band

I wouldn't worry about X band- cops don't use it anymore.

X band is almost never used by police any more. If you get ANY X band signals, it more than likely is from some other non-threatening source.

The "strength" of one, isn't the signal strengh but the number "1" you see is just the number of radar signals the unit is picking up. You will hear a sort of melodious beep that tells you it has picked up another bogey (signal) The detector will blink the arrow of the most "threatening" signal (i.e the one most likely to be a cop).

For example, if your bogey counter shows 5 that means you have detected 5 separate signals. Most likely some will be in front and some behind. Some may even be to your side. If for example the front arrow is blinking, that means that there may be a cop ahead. If the rear is blinking, he is behind you.

When you turn it on, it is in normal mode and will beep out ALL detected signals at the loudest volume.

If you press and hold the round button for a second, it changes to "logic" mode. This will beep out the threatening signals at the loudest volume and the nonthreatening ones at the "muted" volume. You set these two volumes (regular and muted) with the round **** and the smaller ring-like **** around the larger ****.

Finally if you press and hold the button again, it goes into "advanced logic" mode and will weed out all the non threatening signals altogether (i.e. no beep at all) and will only beep for the threatening ones.

After you use the unit awhile, you will get pretty profiecient at interpreting what it is telling you.

This is all in the OWNERS MANUAL BTW!

there is a programming mode that isn't int he manual that will let you turn off any bands that you dont want. I am still not comfortable turning off X, but I am very close to doing so. It looks like you can boost the sensitivity of Ka (which is what CHP uses) I am not sure why it doesn't come more sensative from the factory. You can also adjust the muting behavior, and turn on the Ku band, which is used in europe, apparently.
