AVH-P4000DVD Antenna
So it's been a few weeks now since I installed my AVH-P4000DVD, and I noticed that the reception of the antenna for FM absolutely sucks. Some stations are super clear, and some barely even come in at all.
I've checked the antenna connections, and all is good.
Any suggestions?
(the stations all come in fine on my other cars)

uh oh. I think at the time of the install I thought the blue wire was the remote line for amp turn-on and I taped it off thinking I didn't need it right now because I don't have an amp.
I will pull it out this weekend.

enlite,,,,when you pull your headunit,,,check the blue and the blue/white. I cannot remember which is which. I think (if I remember correctly) the solid blue is power antenna and the blue/white is remote turn on switch for your amps...Good luck,,,let us know how it turns out.

Does the power antenna require 12v?
I hooked up the blue wire to the blue/white wire on the harness that was labeled remote turn-on.
My only concern is....is the antenna getting what it requires from the remote turn-on wire.

It will work that way,,but I would suggest making sure the Blue (power antenna) goes to Blue from harness. If you are using the blue/white from harness,,,it will be fine,,but you will need the blue/white if you ever decide to add an amp to your system. Good Job and hope this helps

I found a diagram for the Pioneer radio harness, and there are no wires for power antenna. I ended up connecting the blue wire from the metra harness to the ACC (red wire) on the Pioneer harness. It will power the antenna with 12v only when the radio is on. ( I verifed with multi-meter )

The link provided does not sound correct. There are seperate wires provided for the Remote (amp) turn on, for power antenna. The safest thing to do is refer to your owner's manual,,,check your headunits wire harness and connect wires as directed. I cannot imagine connecting the remote turn on, power antenna, ect. ect. all together. I could be wrong,,,and I do not want to offer any incorrect info. But that does not sound right...

I'm also having the same reception problem after having this installed. I mentioned the power antenna wire to the shop and they insisted that everything was installed correctly. I either need to take it back and have it checked again or just check it myself.. Doesn't seem to be all that hard from what I can tell.. Just pissed me off that I even told them about other people having this problem before the install even started! We'll see what happens. If I decide to do it myself, I'll probably be in here asking specific questions on which wires to connect to where. Wish me luck!

I'm still having the same issue, I was waiting on my box to get behind the HU again so I can do multiple tests at once.
From what I gather with my HU and the Metra harness it's a bit misleading.
1. HU blue wire output is a power antenna and an amp lead.
2. Metra harness has a Blue and Blue White wire on seperate plugs. Power antenna and amp lead.
If you see the link I posted above and look at the PDF's you may scratch your head also.
I called crutchfield about this and they said all blue wires should be hooked together then a fourth wire sent back to the amp.
It makes sense if the factory system is sending one signal to the antenna and one to the possible Bose system sub amp? Same harness in all models? However I think the amp lead from the Metra harness should be taped off and the power antenna and HU amp lead be sent to the back?
The way I see it that might just be right. As of right now I can get some HD radio stations in but they get a bit choppy when I'm in motion, I get no normal FM stations.
I'll let you know if I find a solid solution but it seems like a mystery to some even the professionals.
