What HU do you have? I grounded the parking brake line on my Kenwood. Didn't bother hooking to the actual car parking brake line.

i have the pioneer avic Z1. in order for me to view DVDs while driving i have to hookup the parking brake line and then get it reflashed. So i need to know the wire.

You can always test it. Get a voltage meter, hopfully you or a buddy have one. With the parking break disengaged, poke into said purple wire with the negative (in my exp it usually is purple or purple stripe for parking break) and hole the red to a voltage source in the car. volt meter should read 0. now engage parking break. meter should now read the voltage of the source. most likely 12V.

Hope this helps.
