Are you trying to copy a movie DVD to a USB flashdrive, and then play that on your car's CES?

pretty much.. i've never read about anybody being able to do this, so I guess it doesn't work with any systems. I can play movies from my drive, on my ps3 with no problem..

^^ I believe that this has to do with the copy-protection publishers incorporate into the DVD disk itself. There is software that defeats this (I’m not sure if that software is legal). Anyway, the “pirating” software wants to rewrite the unprotected result to a DVD or HDD. I don’t know that you can place the “unprotected” DVD content onto a USB flashdrive.

it's got nothing to do with copy protection. auto nav systems don't seem to support any avi, mpg or other video formats.. just audio.

try a regular mpeg-2 format file... yes i know the files are huge, but I think that might be all you will be able to play.

The difference is that the publisher can set the installation and copy media. In my case, I only allow installation from a CD/DVD or web-download for our software (but never an installation, copy-file, or operation from a USB drive). I’m pretty sure this is not an orphan-installation structure in the industry (other companies use this as well to minimize pirating).
