Just get one that come with the Bose or buy a whole after market set.

Noooo!

Standard Bose system is...well...um...horrid in my humble opinion.
By the time you have all the gear together, you could have gotten a fantastic 4-channel amp, some really nice components, a deck that will be infinitely better (with way more options), kit, harness and even a small amp and sub that would walk all over the Bose system. Price may be a bit more but labour will be similar and the end results will be MUCH, MUCH better.

No highs, no lows...must be Bose!

Yeah dude, just forget about going Blose. The end results are definitely not worth the effort.

ok well ive done car audio before and an install really doesnt scare me about aftermarket, but i really dont want to have to find the room for the amps and i cant stand buying a new car and putting an aftermarket hu in, i really would prefer a stock hu for appearance sake, call me crazy. i tell you what, ill go to the nissan dealership and see if they have a z with the bose and i can see if i like it and think its worth it. plus it still is a lot cheaper than aftermarket. im looking at about 400 for the bose kit and 1000 for aftermarket speakers, hu, and amp + acc. so anyway, just to know, id still like to know the answer about if its plug and play with the amps speakers and hu on the bose system and about if the base even has the whole for the sub or if i have to cut into things....thanks!

I have an Enthusiast model, aka no Bose system, and the wiring is different all around. I think you have to run new wiring to get the amp integrated.

I do have 2 amps for sale right now, a JL sub amp and an Alpine 4 channel amp if you eventually consider going aftermarket

350z + OEM Bose = very poor sound

Any low-end H/U with cheap speakers will sound much better.

Well, there are three reaons for this:

1) The sub is really cheap and crappy. Maybe $4 cost to make it.

2) The enclosure is not an enclosure but rather a cavern.

3) The distance from the sub to you is...um...12 inches maybe. This doesn't allow the full bass wave to form before it hits your head. A typical 30-50 hz bass wave is aproximately 5 to 3 feet respectively. A sub in the trunk is much more effective for this.

^^ Very well-stated. You understand.

Surprisingly, people pay extra $$'s for this OEM "upgrade."

Forget the bose kit...if you are going that route just get replacement 6.5in Coax speakers and call it a day. You really are wasting your money buying a stock bose system for the Z.

Well, I do apologize to Bose owners that are satisfied with their systems. Listening to a sound system can be very subjective so one person's opinion may differ from another. As a stock system, its 'ok'. But to 'upgrade' from the stock system does not make sense to me.

My 350Z (which I will be picking up this weekend) has the stock Bose and Navi which is all coming out and being replaced with um...anything else. I have plans for a massive custom system to showcase my installing talents. Pictures to come later!

Congrats on the car! If you are happy with it, thats all that matters
If you do a search for the Bose kit, you will uncover a lot of good info on what others have done to upgrade.

100% true for stock its really good. I'm not to much into Big banging systems where you cant even hear the ambulance coming by. But yes get a full aftermarket system if you want extremely good sound.

well hey orgasm donor ill buy the whole bose kit off of you if you are replacing the whole thing? since you have to pretty much have the whole car stripped down for audio replacement you could include all the wiring from the amps to the head units? if you plan on for sure taking all this stuff out ill take it off your hands, i think i could live with the bose for now, if not ill upgrade down the road im stretching myself just with the z but its my dream car but needless to say i dont have any extra money so i have to make sacrifices as far as how pricey the upgrades are! thanks!

I may take you up on that offer however, I am not sure what I am goijng to do with the Navi system (I may use the stock navi and aftermarket everything else. I also don't know how much the audio ties into the Navi system besides the voice command system. I will have to see.

I probably won't be starting on it until this November anyways when I pull it off the road for the winter.
