Default Crutchfield?? Boston Acoustic??

Im looking to purchase some custom audio equipment and this is a first for me.

- Has anyone purchased from Crutchfield before?

- Are they over priced?

- What's your opinion of Crutchfield?

On the Crutchfield site, they have what looks to be a good deal on a Boston Acoustic Subwoofer:

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...5G51044&tp=111

Its the "Staff's Pick" for subwoofer, buy one get one free and free shipping.

So:

- Boston Acoustic yay or nay on quality?

- Anyone have Boston Acoustics G510-44 DVC subwoofer(s)?

- If you notice in the middle of the speaker cone is I guess the dust cap with the Boston logo on it. I don't really care for that. I prefer a more clean look. Could I paint that center portion of the cone/dust cap without affecting the subs performance?

Let me know your thoughts and opinions.

I have ordered from them several times. Super fast shipping and incredible customer service. They will even help you through installs over the phone. They've been around for years, it used to be just catalog/mail order prior to the internet. I would definitely recommend them. Something else to keep in mind: They are an authorized dealer for the brands they carry, one of the few if only for online ordering for brands like Boston Acoustics, JL audio, Alpine, Polk Audio etc.

Crutchfield is a bit on the pricey side, but you get fast shipping, warranty, and great service.

Boston Acoustics is an excellent company.

you can usually find an authorized dealer close to where you are that is less expensive than crutchfield. If you are in socal, I can get you much better prices on BA.

They are a good company though, but the prices are on the high side as stated by others. They are authorized dealers for everything they sell, so you can sleep better at night knowing if something is jacked up you can get it fixed or replaced.

Default Boston Acoustic

So what is everyone's opinion of Boston Acoustic?

Also, would I be able to paint over Boston Acoustics logo in the center of the cone/dust cover without effecting the performance?

Paint the cone? Why would you want to do that?

BA makes some solid speakers, but here are better subs out there for a lot less than $350. Check out Resonant Engineering, FI Car Audio, Image Dynamics and Digital Designs.

Ummm...yeah. If you want to go out and spend your hard earned cash (presumption?) on quality audio equipment --and then go and freaking PAINT it -- I guess that's your option.

The Boston Acoustic speakers I am looking at has there logo across the center of the dust cap/cone. I'm looking for more of the clean look; just like when some of us shave the nissan badge, Z logo, etc. off the hood, hatch and fenders.

I'm looking at the Boston speakers because Crutchfield has a "Buy One, Get One Free" deal going on them.

Logo Across the Center:

If you are worried about the cone, all the newer subs come with the new black dust cap. Here is the link of what they look like. I know the link is for the G3 subs, but they have changed all the subs to look like this. If I was you when you order them make sure you let them know you want the newer version.

The subs you compared are different in cone styles.

If you painted the cone on the BA sub, it'd look like some generic cheapy thing.

I'd rather have the logo showing to show people that you spent some cash.

most likely if they are doing buy one get one free, it will be the old model which they are trying to get out of inventory.

i've bought from them before (my HU and ipod adapter).
they are a little pricey, but they include everything that you need.

and, if you google enough, you can find coupons that will drop the price down.

I've bought stuff from there and it was cool. They are a little higher than some places, but they provide wiring and radio kits for free. Why go with the BA? They're other brands that are less and if not better. I do like BA's component sets though. I had some in a maxima I used to own.

Since you're looking at a dual sub setup I'm assuming you're going with the understrut box. If that's the case then here is a sweet setup at a great price.

http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=763

The box was built for the subs so you can't go wrong. Their amps are very affordable as well. Wiring is all available through them also. Sound deadening by them is great stuff and alot cheaper than most of the competition. Basically you can get everything from them except a HU.

Man I haven't even owned this stuff and I'm plugging it. I've just read alot about them and it seems you can't go wrong for the money. I'm considering them for my setup in the Z for the future.

I'm actually looking to fiberglass the entire trunk from the strut bar back. I'll inset the subs; one on each side and then inset the amp(s), crossovers, sound processors, etc. in the middle and under the strut bar behind clear plexiglass.

This is just a basic description of how I've imagined it in my head. I'm going to coordinate with the installer, work with some designs and see what we can come up with once I order all the equipment.
